CARE International in Kenya is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of a Assistant Officer - Plant Electrician.
The position is based in the CARE Kenya, Dadaab Office.
Job Summary:
The plant electrician will be responsible for all electrical maintenance of borehole and associated equipment.
Together with plant mechanic he/she will ensure that all such equipment is serviced as per the monthly schedule and repaired in the event of any breakdown
Responsibilities and Tasks:

Responsibilities and Tasks:
- preventive and service maintenance of borehole generators and electrical plant
- monitor and evaluate system performance to preempt faults or propose improvements
- retrieve, assemble, repair and (re)install submersible and booster pumps
- electrical repair of control and instrument panels
- design, installation and maintenance works for three care compounds power installation
- modify models of electrical devices or installations to match needs on the ground or to meet specifications
- apprentice training (electrical) and technical guidance to three compound electricians
- maintain up to date records of work done and prepare routine reports to STO/PMU
- draw up BOQs for electrical plant and installations and do regular updates of electrical stores
- other relevant duties assigned by workshop foreman and STO
Contacts / Key Relationships:
- be in contact with STAs in the camps to monitor the performance of sets especially those that have just undergone major repairs/overhauls
Working Conditions:
- as stated in terms of contract and HR manual
- this is an unaccompanied posting
- for security reasons travel within Dadaab camps is restricted and intercamps movement are by scheduled convoys escorted by police. Adhere to convoy rules
- you will reside within care compounds while executing official duties and shall obey and adhere to residential compound regulations
Qualifications:
- Education: Educated to form four O-level
- Experience: minimum 2 years
- Certificate: plant electrician grade 1 trade certificate
- Competencies: willing to work odd hours with minimum supervision
