USAID Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program (MCHIP) Project Director Vacancy

The Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program (MCHIP), is USAID's flagship award for maternal, newborn and child health.

MCHIP aims to accelerate the reduction of maternal, newborn and child mortality in Kenya through the introduction, development and scale-up of high-impact interventions.

MCHIP is implemented by Jhpiego and its partners, including Save the Children, John Snow, Inc., Johns Hopkins University/Institute for International Programs, Macro International, Inc., Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, Broad Branch Associates, and Population Services International.

MCHIP is currently recruiting a
 Project Director to lead the MCHIP program in Kenya

The Project Director will be responsible for the overall management and implementation of MCHIP activities in Kenya.

He/she will work closely with the Jhpiego Kenya Country Director; MCHIP support team based in Washington and other representatives from Jhpiego and its partner organizations to ensure programmatic leadership and integrity.

We are seeking for an individual with excellent managerial, technical and interpersonal skills, who is a team player, dedicated, hard working, highly motivated and able to work in a high pressure environment requiring multi-tasking.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of MCHIP program strategy in Kenya and plan for overall implementation and attainment of program goals
  • Ensure that MCHIP program is technically sound, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of the country
  • Prepare, review and submit annual work plans to MCHIP/HQ and donor
  • Provide overall leadership for the program's technical, financial and human resources functions
  • Represent MCHIP at Ministries of Health and in other relevant technical advisory meetings with counterparts and partner institutions
  • Prepare, review and share periodical reports and other program deliverables in time
  • Track and present progress, achievements and lessons learned to key stakeholders including donor and partners
Qualifications:
  • Must be a medical doctor, with post-graduate qualification in either pediatrics and child health, obstetrics and gynecology or public health
  • 5+ years experience in successful implementation of maternal, newborn and child health programs
  • Experience in water and sanitation programming and health systems strengthening is desirable
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to produce quality results
  • Experience in working with Ministries of Health systems and personnel
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced multi-agency/organizational environment
  • Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS office
