The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood (WRA) is a global coalition of organizations and individuals bound together by a common goal: to help ensure that safe pregnancy and childbirth is an attainable priority for all mothers and their newborns.

WRA has 15 national alliances globally. Founded in Kenya in 2009, the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood in Kenya advocates for safe motherhood as a basic human right; inspires action to save mothers and newborns lives, with a coordinated effort from governments, development partners, NGOs, the media, public and private sectors, communities, families and individuals. WRA-K believes everybody has a role to play in saving mothers and newborns.

WRA-K seeks to recruit a Program Officer for its Nairobi office.

Reporting to the National Coordinator, the Program Officer will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-

Purpose of the Job
  • To provide technical expertise and support of project activities, strategy development and implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate WRA-K activities with WRA-K members and member organizations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the WRA-K work plan.
  • Arrange for consultation and technical assistance as appropriate.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating the project as per donor requirements.
  • Participate in the development of new concepts and proposals for fundraising.
  • Participate in capacity building activities, field visits and meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of evidence based advocacy in line with WRA-Ks objectives.
  • Establish and ensure open and transparent communication between the National Secretariat, the National Coordinator and WRA-K membership.
  • Ensure that all WRA-K members are routinely informed of the activities and proceedings of the alliance as a whole through quarterly reports.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • First degree in Public Health or related field.
  • A post graduate qualification is desirable.
  • Three (3) years of relevant working experience in busy Maternal and Newborn Health environment.
  • Understanding of issues surrounding maternal and newborn health in Kenya will be an added advantage.
  • Must be ICT proficient.
  • The candidate should be able to work under minimal supervision and prioritize duties. Have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
