Maseno University is a young medium sized Public University situated in Western Kenya, twenty five kilometers from Kisumu City along the Kisumu-Busia highway.
It was founded in the year 2001 following the change of status of its predecessor Maseno University College to a fully fledged University status through Maseno University Act 2000.
The University has realized significant expansion of its infrastructure facilities since inception. It has also acquired and is developing prime facilities including a hotel (Kisumu Hotel) in Kisumu City, a farm, and major city property which forms part of new City Campus College.
In addition, all undergraduate academic programmes have Information Technology (IT) as a major component.
Maseno University Council is seeking an eminent scholar with an outstanding record of leadership for the position of Vice Chancellor – the Chief Executive Officer – who will have both administrative and academic responsibilities over the University and be able to sustain the current tempo and momentum of development.It was founded in the year 2001 following the change of status of its predecessor Maseno University College to a fully fledged University status through Maseno University Act 2000.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- At least fifteen (15) years of experience in senior academic and management positions in a university and an outstanding internationally recognized record of scholarship and academic leadership.
- wide experience in University administration.
- Sound knowledge and skills in administration, promotion and management of teaching and research institutions of higher learning.
- understanding of and commitment to academic excellence, highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
- a track record of success and performance, characterized by a clear vision and strategic planning.

The post is on a five (5) year contract and will be eligible for renewal once upon satisfactory performance.
