Maseno University is a young medium sized Public University situated in Western Kenya, twenty five kilometers from Kisumu City along the Kisumu-Busia highway.
It was founded in the year 2001 following the change of status of its predecessor Maseno University College to a fully fledged University status through Maseno University Act 2000.
The University has realized significant expansion of its infrastructure facilities since inception. It has also acquired and is developing prime facilities including a hotel (Kisumu Hotel) in Kisumu City, a farm, and major city property which forms part of new City Campus College.
In addition, all undergraduate academic programmes have Information Technology (IT) as a major component.

The applicant should:
- be a Professor or Associate Professor of a recognized University with at least ten(10) years experience in a senior academic and management position;
- have an outstanding internationally recognized record of scholarship and academic leadership;
- have a track record of successful preparation and management of strategic and spatial plans in a large institution of higher learning or research institution;
- have capacity to promote learning, teaching and research in a University;
- be of high ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor in the day-to-day affairs of the Planning and Extension Services Division, the successful applicant is expected to:

- co-ordinate preparation and implementation of strategic plan;
- co-ordinate preparation of short-term and long-term development plans;
- co-ordinate Quality Assurance including Performance Contracting and Quality Management Systems;
- promote and co-ordinate publications and extension services;
- promote and manage collaboration and linkages both locally and internationally with other research programmes;
- do any other duties as may be delegated by the Vice Chancellor.
The position is on a contract term of three (3) years, renewable once upon satisfactory performance.
The post carries a competitive remuneration package which includes basic salary, housing allowance, medical cover as per University medical scheme, leave allowance, official transport and gratuity at the end of the contract.
The salary entry point will depend on qualifications and experience of the successful candidates.
