Rockefeller Foundation Research Associate Job Vacancy in Kenya

The Foundation currently maintains an office in New York in the United States, Regional offices in Bangkok, Thailand and Nairobi, Kenya and a study and conference centre in Bellagio, Italy.

The Foundation is seeking to recruit a talented, innovative and results oriented individual to fill the position of 
Research Associate. The position will work on three main areas; Global disease Surveillance Network, Transforming Health Systems, Urban Development, among others. The position will be based in Nairobi and will report to the Managing Director.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the Foundation’s work with established partnerships and working with them in research and network development;
  • Assisting in strategic development of existing initiatives and identifying new ones;
  • Assisting in coordinating the grant management process;
  • Liaising with the Evaluation team and external consultants to develop initiative(s) Results Based Management Frameworks;
  • Liaising with the Communication team to develop appropriate external and internal communication to support the implementation of the Foundation’s strategy; and
  • Developing budgets and serving on various internal Foundation Committees.
Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:
  • A minimum of a Masters degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Public Health, Health Economics or related discipline;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position with greater emphasis in identifying fundable projects and preparing and managing grants;
  • Experience in conducting and analyzing research and in planning and implementing international programs and projects;
  • Expertise in health or health economics as well as experience in working with governments, private sector and Non Governmental organizations in the delivery of health systems is preferred;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a rapidly changing, globally oriented, multicultural environment;
  • International development experience and knowledge of a foreign language are added advantages; and
  • Team work, public relations, influencing and networking skills are essential.
