Regional Advisor for HIV/AIDS Community Based Treatment Services.
The goal of the Community Based Treatment Services component is to improve or implement in some cases, the
level of community support and patient preparation available from the health system to the patient and their family
through:
  • Providing comprehensive training mentorship to all the local treatment partners
  • Ensuring treatment success through proper implementation of the AIDSRelief model
  • Viral load suppression
  • Increase retention in care
  • Ensure community care treatment scalability
  • Use of PLWHAs
  • Lay community members
  • Successfully building in-country capacity to lead the program
  • Define and implement necessary indicators for continued program development and sustainability
Position Summary

The Regional Advisor for HIV/AIDS Community Based Treatment Services will provide cross cutting strategies that will promote community based care and support along the continuum of clinical and community based services.
The Regional Advisor for CBTS will support activities in 5 countries in the East Africa region , namely, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia..
He/she will work in collaboration with other program components such as medical, laboratory, nursing, monitoring and evaluation. He/she will work directly with country CBTS leads on specific country CBTS strategies as well as on the concept and development of promoting a health economy in rural communities
He/she will report to the Community Based Treatment Services Director.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide critical and strategic regional-level technical support to country teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships/collaborations with government and non-governmental related organizations/ agencies.
  • Work as a member of interdisciplinary team to provide education and supportive supervision for adherence/ community staff and others working in clinics, hospitals, health centers, and home-based care where HIV/AIDS care and treatment are being delivered
  • Assist medical and strategic information staff in reviewing documentation and data collection at the sites and country levels to assure that relevant data is shared with staff/facility/country to improve care and treatment.
  • Provide technical leadership for all aspects of monitoring and evaluation for community-based interventions
  • Assist local treatment partner staff in identifying and pursuing possible “small tests of change” and other quality improvement efforts that evaluate and improve care and treatment delivery.
  • Contribute and assist in the creation of an AIDSRelief newsletter
  • Analysis and planning of interactive activities to recognize and overcome challenges or barriers to an efficient and effective program-specific support/adherence program linked closely with community partners.
  • Attend and participate in both clinical and administrative team meetings as needed to promote continuity of care and treatment delivered by AIDSRelief Program.
  • Formulate and supervise the development of CBTS staff professional development. Prepare and, submit monthly reports to CBTS HQ director.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Masters Degree in Public Health or related field with 5 years minimum experience, PhD or MD degrees are strongly encouraged.
  • Highly experienced in database software and use, ie. SPSS, STATA
  • Familiarity with Ministries of Health , Community development agencies, working with PEPFAR grants
  • At least 3 years working in HIV/AIDS care and treatment at the national and/or international level
  • Prior experience in capacity building, such as planning and facilitating trainings and providing technical assistance
  • Background in community development, management experience in the areas of family planning, reproductive health, community health, IMCI, MCH and HIV/AIDS Excellent writing and reporting skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and cross cultural skills
  • Computer literate
  • Extensive travel across countries.
