Our client, a National NGO working in Somalia, is looking to fill a Project Officer’s Position.

Job Description:

The Project officer will be based in Nairobi and will be responsible for the coordination of all project activities and will provide project implementation support to projects in Somalia.

The project officer will report to the Executive Director and will fulfill the following duties:

Program Work:
Work with the Executive director to develop projects and activities appropriate to the organization, undertaking the following tasks:
  1. Assist in the development of new project proposals in collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and Regional Coordinator
  2. Coordinate all project activities including preparation of work plans and related monitoring
  3. Ensure the timely implementation of projects and report any delays or discrepancies noticed in project activities
  4. Prepare project reports
  5. Assist in communication and collaboration with donors and partners
  6. Play a leading role in the development of advocacy and publicity materials
Program Administration:
  1. Maintain project files and related documentation
  2. Prepare meeting agendas and minutes for external meetings with partners and donors
  3. Supervise and support local staff to ensure smooth running of the office
  4. Actively participate in the organization of events (meetings/workshops/conferences/trainings, etc.)
  5. Undertake other program administration tasks as and when necessary
Qualifications/Skills
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences/ Community Development/Project Management or related field.
  • At-least 2 years experience in program development and management in an NGO
  • Good proposal and report writing skills
  • Proficient in basic computer packages
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written). Working knowledge of Somali is an added advantage
  • Strong planning, organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-motivated and reliable person who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well in multicultural teams
