For Provision of Consultancy Services for Developing Technology Needs Assessment (TNA)
The National Environment Management Authority in collaboration with UNEP and UNEP Risoe Centre, Denmark seek to carry out a project to assist identify and analyze priority technology needs for Kenya which will form the basis for a portfolio of Environmentally Sound Technology (EST) projects and programmes to facilitate the transfer of, and access to, the ESTs and know-how in the implementation of Article 4.5 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The Authority is requesting for expressions of interest from consultancy firms, familiar with climate change issues at global and regional levels, to carry out this exercise.
The terms of reference for the work are:-

  • Identify the national development and sustainability priorities, with particular attention to climate change mitigation and adaptation needs.
  • Identify institutions for data and expert support;
  • Carry out sector prioritization and assessment in consultation with the National Steering Committee (NSC).
  • Prepare the prioritized technologies report (TNA report)
  • Carry out market assessment- analyze barriers and develop an Enabling Framework for deployment and diffusion of prioritized technologies
  • Prepare a Technology Action Plan (TAP)
  • Conduct a survey of existing relevant technologies within the country and in the region Conduct techno economic appraisal and develop proposals for selected projects.
Requirements
The consultancy firm should have extensive knowledge of and a minimum of 10 years experience in climate change mitigation and adaptation policies and strategies at the global, regional and national level.
The firm should be familiar with national development objectives and sector policies, have overall insights in climate change science, and potential climate change impacts, as well as adaptation needs for the country.
The firm should indicate their professional capability (profile of past undertakings of related assignments). Attach relevant academic and professional qualifications and their detailed curriculum vitae
The firm should provide a Company profile, certificate of Incorporation, PIN & VAT Certificate, Tax Compliance Certificate, Audited accounts for the last three years and any other relevant details which will enrich the proposed assignment.
