The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) a State Corporation whose mandate is to plan design, build, operate and maintain new high voltage electricity transmission lines and associated substations throughout the Country, seeks to recruit the following staff:
1. Power Economist
1 Position

The holder of the job will be reporting to the Chief Economist; and will execute the following duties:
  • Carry out economic analysis of
  1. power demand
  2. least-cost power
  3. economic viability, and
  4. risk analysis of electricity transmission system;

  • Project preparation, design, appraisal, monitoring &evaluation, proposal & report writing and management of information system;
  • Economic & Strategic planning, work planning: and
  • Research and policy analysis with relevant statistical and economic skills.
Qualification:
  • Must have at least a Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering and must have done Power Economics option. A Masters degree will be an added advantage;
  • Must have been exposed to Project Management for at least five years. Those who have worked in the public or parastatals in energy/electricity subsector will have an added advantage; and
  • Those with experience in power system planning, particularly with hands on experience in application of the Power System Simulator for Engineers (PSSE) software will have an added advantage.
2. Senior Public Relations and Communication Officer 

1 Position

The person will be reporting to the MD/CEO and will execute the following duties:
  • Formulate the Company’s communication strategy, driving initiatives that support the company’s corporate strategy;
  • Promotion of a positive corporate image;
  • Implement the corporate social responsibility policy;
  • Develop and administer communication data base;
  • Create and sustain mutually beneficial relations with the media;
  • Update and upgrading the Company’s website:
  • Prepare appropriate and timely responses to issues raised through the media, website or from any stakeholder;
  • Prepare news release, press kits, supplements on KETRACO programs and activities;and
  • Prepare relevant communication statements and approaches to engage members, development and social partners.
Qualification:
  • Must be a holder of a university degree in Public Relations, Communications or journalism from a recognized university;
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in a dynamic communications/PR function in public and or private sector with proven people leadership skills:
  • Experience in developing and administering strategic communication programmes;
  • Have proven ability to design, implement both strategic programmes and support tactics with superior written and verbal communication skills coupled with highly developed interpersonal and presentation skills; and
  • Must be Computer literate.
