College of Insurance, Nairobi - Director/Chief Executive Officer - Hawkins Associates Job Advert

The College of Insurance is operated by the Insurance Training & Education Trust (ITET), the insurance industry's umbrella body charged with the responsibility of promoting, overseeing and coordinating insurance training and education, across all sectors of this very diverse industry.

With this appointment, ITET is now seeking to raise the profile of its main training facility, the College of Insurance, into a regional knowledge centre of excellence.

Key duties & responsibilities:

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Director/CEO will be responsible for providing visionary leadership of the College's management team, to realize the College's full potential in line with the short and long term plans of ITET.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:-

  • Expanding the College's training programmes and courses to satisfy the changing needs of the insurance industry;
  • Transforming the College into a regional knowledge centre of excellence;
  • Systematically building the capacity and enhancing the status of the College to offer higher level programmes, including courses at degree level in insurance and related disciplines;
  • Initiating and strengthening linkages with other institutions of higher learning in related fields, both within the East Africa region and internationally;
  • Building a dynamic, highly disciplined and motivated team of management staff and teaching faculty;
  • Promoting best practice and highest institutional governance standards.
Qualifications, experience & other requirements: 

We invite applications from Kenya citizens who meet at least the following requirements:-
  • Hold a post graduate degree in a business related field from a recognized university;
  • An effective administrator with at least 10 years experience in top level executive positions, preferably in progressive institutions of higher learning;
  • Have proven skills in molding and leading multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement strategic plans, resource allocation and utilization, as well as in guiding curriculum development and course management;
  • A robust personality with a marketing flair as well as entrepreneurial and people management skills
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A key selection factor will be the candidate's proven ability to motivate his/her team to raise standards and achieve ambitious goals
