Chemonics International Jobs in Nairobi Kenya

Chemonics International, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, is recruiting for an anticipated three-year USAID-funded project.

The project is expected to improve productivity and growth of agricultural value chains through expanded financial services access to underserved groups, and to facilitate opportunities for agribusiness development and overall market efficiencies.

Project headquarters will be in Nairobi, Kenya.

Minimum qualifications for all positions:
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with government officials, international donors, and private sector stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Fluency in English required
Team Leader:

  • Financial Sector Development Specialist with a minimum often years of demonstrated successful experience in financial sector deepening in a developing country, preferably East African
  • Wide experience working with other USAID implementing partners and brokering partnerships between the private sector and other donor organizations working in Kenya's financial sector
  • Strong in financial sector regulatory reforms including strengthening microfinance institutions that have or are converting to regulated status
  • Successful experience in implementing donor programs in the finance sector
Rural and Agricultural Product Development Specialist:
  • Experience facilitating the development of value chain financial products suitable for the target groups
  • Master's degree in economics, finance, or any other relevant training
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in product development, market research, and rural financial service expansion
  • Proven successful experience in expansion of agricultural finance services that can contribute directly to agricultural development, agribusiness and trade expansion
  • Proven exposure to the development of savings and credit schemes targeting the youth and very poor
Contracts Manager:
  • Experienced development practitioner in providing grants and contracts
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies or any other relevant discipline- A minimum of five years working experience with USAID or other USG financial management/contract-making programs
  • Experience integrating gender and youth mainstreaming into the design of financial inclusion activities
We are also recruiting for senior and mid-level experts in the following areas:
  1. ICT specialists with experience developing innovative ICT products for use in expanding financial access
  2. Small scale renewable energy specialists with experience in financing and/or policy
  3. Financial regulatory reform/policy specialists, experience with collateral registry systems
  4. Agricultural value chain and market infrastructure specialists
  5. Banking sector specialists, familiarity with Development Credit Authority or other loan guarantee mechanisms
  6. Youth microenterprise specialists
  7. Savings and rural microfinance specialists, experience working with SACCOs and village banks
