The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa IT Manager Job in Kenya


The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, is the first school in a planned network of state-of-the-art, residential, IB schools dedicated to expanding access to education of an international standard of excellence.

The Academies educate girls and boys from pre-primary through to higher secondary. The campus is located on a beautiful 7.4 ha site overlooking the Indian Ocean in Mombasa.

Upon completion of the residential facilities, which are currently under construction, the Campus will consist of over 30,000 square meters of high quality academic, athletic, dining, residential, and administrative and services buildings in addition to extensive sports fields and hard and soft landscaped areas.

The Academy will house and serve over 1,000 students, faculty and staff — almost double today’s population.

We invite applications for the position of 
IT Manager.

Skills, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in Linux and Microsoft Windows OS platform, both server and client
  • Knowledge of MS Exchange (SQL knowledge is an added advantage)
  • Project management of IT systems from requirement analysis, infrastructure development, deployment, maintenance and review (as needed)
  • Ability to test and update disaster recovery procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of laptop, desktop and server hardware repair and maintenance (HP and non-branded)
  • Ability to design enterprise level logical networks while identifying potential risks and performance bottlenecks in physical layout
  • Conversant with Level 3 and 2 managed network infrastructure
  • Ability to manage and set up wireless networks as required
  • Ability to plan and implement virtualized server environments
  • Design and implementation ability of robust firewall and perimeter security systems to ensure data safety and restricted access
  • Ability to analyze and report on IT service fiscal procedures to align with organizational needs
  • Policies and procedures enforcement governing IT use in the organization
  • Vendor management to ensure SLA compliance and acceptable response times
  • Team and departmental management to ensure optimum performance
  • Performance analysis and auditing of all IT resources in use within the organization.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Educational: First degree in Information Systems/Information Science (or equivalent)
  • Technical: MCSE and CCNA (or equivalent Commerce) with excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
