WWF Jobs in Tanzania: Programme Manager – Strengthening Environmental Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)

WWF, the global conservation organization, is seeking to recruit a:
Programme Manager – Strengthening Environmental Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Reporting to the Regional Representative, WWF Eastern Southern & Africa Programme (WWF-ESARPO), the Programme Manager has overall responsibility for high quality and timely delivery on all expected outcomes of the Tanzania Civil Society Programme, and thus contributing to the fulfilment of the programme’s goal and purpose.
Ensures careful preparation of budgets and that the timing and cost of planned work is accurately reflected while taking relevant donor requirements into consideration.
The purpose of the CSOs is that they effectively participate in and influence decision making and governance for more sustainable and equitable management of natural resources, especially fisheries, forestry, and wildlife resources.

Key Requirements are:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in natural resource management, environment, rural development, social sciences or sociology, or related field. Masters’ degree in similar fields will be a distinct advantage;
  • 7 years work experience with both local and international NGOs working in environment/conservation and development work, 3 years of programme management experience in the context of organisational development and/or advocacy/policy work; 2 years experience of working in or supporting partnership with other CSO;
  • Good understanding of issues of sustainable conservation management;
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, ability to work independently, initiate and fulfil projects and to motivate and engage staff and partners;
  • Personal desire and engagement for, as well as demonstrable experience in, policy analysis and advocacy work;
  • Experience of budgeting, and familiarity with sound budgetary and financial management procedures;
  • Knowledge and skills of utilizing participatory approaches to development;
  • Good analytical, communication and report writing skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team of multicultural backgrounds and with minimum supervision;
  • Excellent spoken and written Kiswahili and English;
  • Competency in computer application skills especially in Ms Word, Excel and Power Point.
