Our client is looking for a suitable candidate to fill an Tax Manager position
Purpose of the position 

The tax manager will be involved with coordinating with the business units to execute the overall Group’s tax strategy and the tax advisory activities for the company.

Specifically, manage the external tax agents supporting the company with tax compliance activities, provide practical tax advice on company/group transactions.

This position interfaces externally with tax authorities and internally with other accounting and business team personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Review the company’s tax returns
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Review tax provisions and estimates
  • Coordinate tax strategies
  • Manage audits by the tax authority
  • Manage relationship with Tax Authorities
  • Provide Tax advisory input in various company initiatives such as Product Development, strategic initiatives, set up of Employee benefits, agents commission e.t.c
  • Participate in more complex tax projects such as effective tax rate planning, international tax planning and research, cash tax saving initiatives and other projects.
  • Designing, advising and implementing tax planning measures for the group to reduce tax liabilities and therefore ensure maximum profitability.
  • Establish, lodge and follow up tax refund claims with tax authorities to fast track the refunds for cash flow purposes.
  • Identify and lobby for tax amendments and exemptions with the various Ministries of Finance so as to reduce the cost of doing business for the company.
  • Advise on various tax implications on company’s projects/initiatives so as to reduce tax exposures.
  • Review, advise and negotiate for favorable tax clauses in the supplier contracts so as to reduce the burden of tax on the company.
  • Interpret and advise on Double tax treaties so as to reduce the burden of tax on the company.
  • Analyze, object and resolve tax assessments/queries from various Revenue Authorities and other statutory bodies so as to vacate/reduce tax assessments.
  • Training staff on changes in tax legislations to enhance tax compliance.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: 
  • Accounting or finance degree
  • Minimum 4 years experience either in a large corporate or professional services firms
  • Strong experience in taxation dealing with advisory and compliance assignments
  • A professional accounting qualification (CPA or ACCA)
