Save the Children in South Sudan is looking for a highly skilled Sudanese to fill the position of
 
Education Curriculum Develoment Advisor to the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) of Southern Sudan. This is a secondment position for 12 months period to be based in Juba, South Sudan.
Purpose
Provide technical support to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in Southern Sudan to finalise the development of the New Southern Sudan Curriculum for primary education, support in the establishment of structures for effective curriculum implementation and build the capacity of the MoEST staff at various levels (GoSS, States, County and Payam).

This position will further support the Ministry to strengthen and implement quality control systems to ensure quality delivery of education in schools in southern Sudan.
Scope of Work
  • Support and facilitate the MoEST in the development, finalization and implementation of the new southern Sudan curriculum.
  • Support the MoEST and especially the department of Teacher Education to finalise on the materials of the in-service Teacher Training curriculum and facilitate in the effective implementation of the curriculum by the different actors in Southern Sudan.
  • Support the MoEST and especially the Quality Assurance and Promotion Directorate in the coordination of the Teacher Education and Curriculum development and implementation.
  • Work closely with Juba University through and in liaison with the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Promotion on the establishment and delivery of examinations to teacher trainees.
  • Prepare a final outcome-output report and submit to Save the Children's Education Technical Adviser capturing achievements, challenges and future recommendations.
Person Specifications Essential
  • A university degree up to Masters Level preferably in Curriculum Development.
  • A Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in supporting Government ministries in developing and implementing curriculum (if possible in post conflict Governments)
  • Demonstrate experience directly relevant to the scope of work
Desirable
  • Ability to work with others, familiarity with and a supportive attitude towards building the capacity of MoEST staff.
  • Leadership qualities, good interpersonal skills, team management skills, facilitation, coaching and mentorship skills
  • Willing to undertake regular field visits and interact with different stakeholders from senior Government officials to communities.
  • Computer proficient (Management Information systems)
