Othaya-Mukurwe-ini Water Services Managing Director Job Re-Advertisement

Othaya-Mukurwe-ini Water Services Company Limited is a Water Service Provider contracted by Tana Water Services Board to provide water and Sanitation services in Mukurwe-ini and Nyeri South Districts.

To strengthen our team of staff and leadership, we urgently invite applications from highly competent and experienced individuals who are proactive and self driven to fill the following position within the Company.

Managing Director

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director will be the principal officer of the Company and will be expected to provide overall direction to the Company through planning, directing and coordinating activities of the Company.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Developing for the approval of the Board, strategic and business plans, including annual work-plans, budget and performance targets
  • Ensuring effective implementation of the company’s Strategic Plan
  • Ensuring safe custody and management of the company’s assets.
  • Providing strategic leadership and direction, including the management and development of the human resources of the company.
  • Planning, coordinating and implementing all activities of the company in line with the policies and directives approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Ensuring proper management, operational efficiency and corporate reporting requirement of the Company.
  • Promoting the company’s image and developing a good working relationship with all stakeholders and partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with Government policies and regulations.
  • Provide advice to the Board of Directors on matters related to the operation of the Company.
Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should have practical skills, experience and a demonstrable track record in managing a large and dynamic department or organization.

Specifically, the candidate must have:
  • A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related water science from a recognized University or a degree in Business, Economics or Commerce.
  • A postgraduate qualification in management or other relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in water and sewerage development, management and operations, 2 of which must have been in a senior management position.
  • A sound understanding of the reforms taking place in the water sector in Kenya.
  • High level of integrity, results-orientation, managerial and administrative skills backed up by a demonstrable track record.
Key skills and competencies:
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity.
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Proven people management skills.
Qualified candidate will be employed on a three – year employment contract basis, renewable upon meeting the laid down performance targets.
