National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE) seeks to recruit three nurses and two drivers for the New Partners Initiative (NPI SHAP) Programme.

The New Partners Initiative (NPI-SHAP) programme is a PEPFAR CDC supported program aimed at scaling up comprehensive HIV Prevention Services for Most-at-risk Populations (MARPs) covering Nairobi, Kiambu and Nyanza (Kisii) regions in Kenya.

Reporting to the Program Officers in the regional offices, the incumbents shall be responsible for providing Nursing and Medical Support to NPI-SHAP clients in the Drop-in-Service Center (DISCs) and will be based in Nairobi, Kiambu/Mai Mahiu and Kisii.
Specific areas of responsibility will include;
  • Responding and handling medical needs relating to family planning and STD’s
  • Diagnostic testing and counselling for Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Recruitment, enrolment of clients and offering counselling & guidance of patients on health related matters
  • Diagnosing and referring clients as necessary
  • Ability to carry out simple medical procedures
  • Ordering and receiving project medical supplies through the procurement office
  • Sterilization and autoclaving of surgical equipments
  • Compiling data/issues and producing the monthly reports
  • Assisting in planning & coordinating medical training programmes & health related information for beneficiaries
  • Liaising with relevant partners, stakeholders and collaborators involved in activities of the program
  • Participating in outreach and training activities
The ideal candidate 
  • should be a qualified & registered nurse/midwife from a recognized medical training college, minimum Diploma level, Diploma in Counselling will be an added advantage.
  • should have current registration with the Kenya Nursing Council as a registered nurse. 
  • Should have an understanding and knowledge of current trends in Reproductive Health/Family Planning issues.
  • Should have at least 3 years working experience in the NGO Sector as a Nurse.
  • Should have working experience as a VCT counselor will be an added advantage.
  • should be fluent in English and Swahili.
  • The candidate should demonstrate maturity and courtesy and should be a team player.
  • S/he should have high level of confidentiality/professionalism.
  • S/he should have high level of tolerance to clients, and ability to handle difficult customers.
The nurse should be able and willing to work long hours, under pressure with minimal supervision with business acumen skills.

Reporting to the Program Officer, the incumbents shall be responsible for providing transportation services to the NPI-SHAP Project and will be based in Nairobi and Kisii offices respectively.
Specific areas of responsibility will include;
  • Driving program vehicle for all official duties while ensuring timeliness and safety
  • Ensuring the project vehicle assigned is well serviced and maintained as required
  • Keeping up to date and accurate records in the vehicle work ticket
  • Preparing vehicle monthly reports
  • Reporting any accidents/incidents involving the project vehicle in custody to the Human Resource & Administrations Manager
The ideal candidate should have ‘O’ level education, Mechanical skills and first aid courses will be an added advantage. S/he should have a clean driving license and a certificate of good conduct. At least 3 years driving experience in an NGO setting. S/he should be fluent in English and Swahili. The candidate should demonstrate maturity and courtesy.
