Merlin Health Information System Officer Job Vacancy in Kenya

Merlin is the only UK specialist Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) which responds worldwide, with vital healthcare and medical relief for vulnerable people affected by natural disasters, conflict and healthcare collapse.
Merlin Kenya/Somalia programme is currently seeking to recruit highly skilled professionals with significant working experience to fill the above vacant position.
The suitable candidate will be on a National grade F1 and will be paid a gross salary of between Ksh. 93,808 and Ksh.114,024 p.m dependant on relevant experience. The contract will be for 12 months with possibility of extension based on donor funding.
He/She will have overall responsibility for collection, collation, compilation, analysis, maintaining and dissemination of data on primary health care including nutrition, EPI, WASH, safe motherhood and reproductive health other project related areas.

S/he will be expected to, among other roles, to

  • Manage data throughout project lifecycle from start to end as directed by project management
  • Ensure the database in Merlin M&E department and MoH are functional and in use
  • Ensure MoH data tools (registers, forms etc) are correctly utilised, kept and updated within Merlin project areas including health facilities and communities
  • Analysis of collected data, make necessary visual presentation and give feedback to each service delivery point
  • Establish contacts with other agencies and information officers within government departments and external agencies
  • Develop protocol for sharing data and ensuring the organization activities meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
  • Assist the M&E Officers and programme staff with the preparation and presentation of data for internal and donor reports in a timely manner
Minimum qualifications and requirements
  • Masters in Public Health, Applied Epidemiology, Health Information Systems (Medical statistic) or equivalent
  • Management capacity: ability to organize, plan, communicate and report writing
  • Experience of over 2 years in health information systems support in NGO
  • Knowledge of MS Excel/ Access, Epi info, SPSS or similar data analysis programmes
  • Experience in INGO or similar emergency and development programming
