Land O’Lakes International Development is a division of Land O’Lakes, Inc., a U.S. food and agricultural cooperative, that implements humanitarian and economic development activities for donor agencies and is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of:
Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
The position

The M&E specialist will be supporting the implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation in Land O’Lakes development programs worldwide.

Main responsibilities will be to assist development programs during the main stages of M&E including, but not limited to, proposals, start-ups, baselines, on-going monitoring activities and reporting, assessments, close-outs, final surveys, reports and final documentation.
Some detailed responsibilities are, but not limited to, assisting and training local M&E teams, preparing M&E plans, designing and carrying out surveys and assessments, developing and improving M&E tools and methods, assisting in the preparation and review of progress reports and preparing lesson learned.

Also, main responsibilities will include close coordination with other teams from the home office to make sure that standards are effectively implemented in processes and systems.

This position, based in Nairobi, Kenya, provides support to all Land O’Lakes projects throughout the world requiring up to 50 % of international travel.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in International Development, Economy, Agriculture, Business, Monitoring and Evaluation or relevant area required
  • At least six years of experience in planning, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting for international development projects
  • At least six years of experience in using quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection and analysis
  • Prior experience with USAID, USDA or other international programs
  • Prior experience working in monitoring and evaluation at the field level
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, any database and any statistical software required
  • Must be detail oriented, proactive, and flexible
  • Ability to work with people of different cultures
  • Must demonstrate problem solving abilities
  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to speak other languages. French or Portuguese preferred
  • Information Systems, data management, statistics, or GIS background is helpful
