Vice-Chancellor’s Office
Database Programmer

Applicants must be holders of Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, with Microsoft Certificate Database Administrator from a recognized university. Candidates with Higher National Diploma in related field from a reputable institution will also be considered.
In addition, applicants must:-
  • Have at least two (2) years relevant working experience.
  • Applicants with a Certificate of Information Auditor (CISA) will have an added advantage.
Finance, Planning and Development Division
Planning and Development Section
Civil/Structural Engineer
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification from a
recognized Institution.
In addition, the applicant must:
  • Be registered Engineer with the Board of Engineers of Kenya or a member of a recognized professional body.
  • Have at least three (3) years post registration experience.
Duties:
  • Design and production of Structural and Civil work drawings for projects
  • Supervision of projects from inception to completion

Electrical Engineer
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a
recognized Institution.
In addition, the applicant must;
  • Be a registered Electrical Engineer with the Board of Engineers of Kenya or a member of a recognized professional body.
  • Have at least three (3) years post registration experience in a consulting or construction firm.
Duties:
  • Design and production of Electrical work drawings and bills of quantities for projects
  • Supervision of projects from inception to completion
  • Submission of electrical drawings to the relevant authorization
Quantity Surveyor
Applicants must be holders of Bachelor of Arts, Degree in Building Economics from a recognized institution. In addition, the applicant must:
  • Be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya.
  • Have at least three (3) years post registration experience.
Duties
  • Preparation of bills of Quantities of materials, labour and services required in the construction.
  • Preparation and valuation of progress reports on projects.
  • Supervision of projects from inception to completion.
Architect
Applicants must be holders of a degree in Architecture from a recognized University. They should have at least three (3) years practical experience with a reputable organization or Government.
Duties:
  • Must be registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya and be members of recognized professional body.
  • Must be able to prepare designs and produce drawings of building projects in the University construction programmes as well as undertake supervision of these projects during construction.
  • Supervision of projects from inception to completion.
  • Submission of drawings to relevant authorities.
Mechanical Engineers
Applicant must be holder of Bachelor of Science degree in Building Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
from a recognized Institution.
In addition, the applicant must:
  • Be registered with relevant professional body
  • Have at least three (3) years post registration experience in a consulting or construction firm.
Duties:
  • Design and production of Mechanical work drawings and bills of quantities for projects.
  • Supervision of projects from inception to completion.
Graduate Architect
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification from a recognized university with three (3) years experience.
In addition the applicants must be able to: -
  • Prepare sketches/scheme designs
  • Produce drawings
  • Interpret brief requirements and post contract administration
Interior Designer
Applicant must be holder of Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from a recognized Institution.
  • Must have at least three (3) years experience.
Duties:
  • Prepare interior design for all the proposed works.
  • Supervision of projects from inception to completion.
Architectural Assistant
Applicant must be holder of diploma in Architecture from a recognized institution.
  • Must have at least three (3) years practical experience and having worked in a reputable Organization as an Architectural Assistant.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in the following Architectural softwares: Archicad, Art-lantis  render/Piranesi or any other.
  • Those with higher national diploma in related field will have an added advantage.
Duties:

School of Engineering & Technology

Responsibilities
The Chief Technician will be involved in supervising technical staff, planning, preparing and implementing practical/
laboratory classes and research projects for both undergraduate and postgraduate students under guidance of academic members of staff in their respective department.
She/he will be responsible for, among others:-
  • Day-to-day administration of the Department.
  • Supervision of all practicals and demonstrations for the students.
Grade E/F
Applicants must be holders of B.Sc. Degree in the relevant area or its equivalent from a recognized university.
Candidates with Higher National Diploma in related field from a reputable institution will also be considered.
In addition, applicants must:-
  • Have at least five (5) years relevant working experience in a busy Laboratory as a Technician in a university or Research Institution
  • Knowledge of computer applications including CAD will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrate leadership and administrative skills
The successful candidate will be involved in planning, preparing and implementing practical/laboratory classes and
research projects for both undergraduate and postgraduate students under guidance of academic members of staff in their respective department.
Grade C/D
Applicants must be holders of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in the relevant area or its equivalent from a recognized
institution.
In addition, applicants must:-
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy Laboratory as a Technician
  • Knowledge of computer applications including CAD will be an added advantage
The successful candidate will be involved in planning, preparing and implementing practical/laboratory exercises for
undergraduate and postgraduate students
Grade A/B
Applicants must be holders of KCE Div. II/KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above. They must have minimum professional qualification of Ordinary Diploma in the relevant area or related field from a recognized institution.
In addition they must have:
  • At least two (2) years relevant working experience in a busy Teaching or Research Laboratory.
  • Be Computer literate
The successful candidate should be able to operate and maintain laboratory equipment and assist in student laboratory/practical and research work.
School of Engineering Workshops
Store-Keeper – Grade C/D
Applicant should be holders of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.
In addition the applicant must:
  • Have three (3) years relevant experience as technician in an academic or research institution.
  • Knowledge of computer applications including CAD and Diploma in Records Management will be an added advantage.
Successful applicants will be involved in maintaining school tools, equipments and machine inventory, ensure thorough cleanliness in the workshops.
Applicants registered by a recognized professional engineering body as a technician engineer will have an added
advantage.

of the following areas: Literary Criticism and Theory, Gender Studies, Creative Writing Theatre Arts, African Literature, Stylistics and Literary Techniques, Folklore, Poetry, Children’s Literature, Popular Literature, African American Literature.

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant
must:
  • Have at least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as a full-time Senior Lecturer.
  • Have successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed senior Lecturer
  • Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Senior Lecturer.

  • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full–time Lecturer after PhD qualification.
  • Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Lecturer.

Tutorial Fellow:
Applicants must be holders of the following degrees:- M.Sc/MPH/MA from a recognized university. In addition applicants must be prepared to pursue PhD degree in the relevant area.
Those who have evidence of pursuing a PhD degree and have university teaching experience will have an added
advantage.

In addition the applicant must:
  • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full–time Lecturer after PhD qualification.
  • Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed Lecturer.

Terms of Service:
Terms of service for teaching posts of lecturers and above include membership to a pension scheme, a generous
medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.
Other posts will be on performance based two (2) year renewable contract plus gratuity at the end of the contract, a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.
