Dupoto-e-Maa Economic Programme Manager Job Vacancy in Kajiado Kenya

Dupoto-e-Maa, Pastoralists Development Organization NGO based and operating in Kajiado District, promoting Pastoralists resources related (livestock value chain) economic programme is looking for a qualified, dynamic, innovative and motivated economic manager for a 2 year programme.

Reporting to the Programme Manager he/she will lead a team of staff and collaborate with the other Programme staff. Eligible candidate will have a minimum of Bachelors degree in Econ/Agribusiness, Commerce (marketing option); or equivalent
The task will include but not restricted to:
  • Managing and coordinating effective implementation of economic programme under Dupoto
  • Lead the preparation of key programme documents including strategic plan, production and implementation of business plans, business propositions and action plans for the next two years

  • Contributing to and effecting Dupoto institutional/organizational/ management requirements
  • Ensuring quality livestock standards and delivery to market on schedule as per agreement while ensuring environmental protection and land management for increased yields.
  • Formulating and implementing effective strategies, mechanisms and action plans to ensure gender equity such that women participate effectively and benefit adequately from the programme.
  • Promote Institutional and program structure development of the marketing groups
  • Promote participation of households in commercial beef production and marketing
  • Coordinate and ensure participation of actors in particular the private sector and other key stakeholders in the value chain
  • Produce periodic reports for the programme and presentation to the key stakeholders
Skills and experience: 
  • Analytical skills, acquainted with the approach of value chain, smallholder/pastoralists production and marketing programmes,
  • Computer literacy, clean driving license and driving for at least 4 years, Have at least 3 years of managing similar economic programme (and preferably using value chain approach),
  • Have experience of working with private sector actors involved in the livestock marketing, Age (28-45), and have proven management, leadership and business networking capacity,
  • Good communication in English and Swahili and Maa language is an added advantage and
  • prepared to start work by August 2010 latest
