Basic Purpose:
- Leading and anchoring strategic sourcing and contracts for high-value investments in Africa for passive infra network equipment and Service (towers, shelters, diesel gensets, Site Build etc)
- Ensure best value for money spend
- Work towards building a vendor eco-system
Expected End Results: Identify Sourcing Needs & Strategy Major Activities:
- Identify strategic sourcing needs (for passive network infrastructure equipment) for the African region – Identify tactical vs. strategic deliverables and evaluate value propositions from strategic perspective
- Identify and develop partners/suppliers of strategic goods and services (for passive network infrastructure equipment) across countries based on business needs and to leverage on One Africa synergies
- Close coordination with key internal stake holders to ensure right choice of Partners
- Apprise management of critical issues in sourcing and suggest opportunities for cost saving and improvements
- Develop new Commercial models for procurement of Passive Infrastructure
- Scan the market for new partners both within & outside Africa leveraging on One Africa synergies
- Identify, compare and select partners providing materials as per defined quality standards at cost-effective rates
- Check & analyse their capacities & capabilities
- Evaluate partner performance regularly
- Develop and nurture business relationships with internal customers and partners across Africa
- Ensure compliance to agreed SLAs by vendors
- Facilitate in resolving any escalations of quality deviations in vendor performance if required
- Assess vendor performance and rate vendors on metrics of cost, quality, and service parameters
- Standardize Tender General Condition for Infrastructure creation
- Optimize consultants liability on the executed projects, if applicable
- Standardize rate contract terms with cover for maintaining products during the total life cycle
- Ensure adherence to defined Supply Chain Policy/Process
- Conduct timely renewal of all Rate Contracts
Expected End Results: Market Pulse for New Technologies, Upgrades, creating cost effective new and innovative products & solutions Major Activities:
- Recommend internal customers on current market conditions, available state-of-the-art technology & new product viability
- Create strategies, products & solutions for CAPEX cost reductions.
- Evaluate required material in light of market availability, quality and commercial feasibility dimensions
- Identify and chart out alternative options in case of material or product unavailability
- Engage in costs and quality benchmarking through informal market research, study of consumption patterns, quality and cost interrelationships
- Develop cost benchmarks by checking rates given to other clients and competitors by vendors
- Derive smarter methods of pan-Africa administrative purchase viz. e- purchase etc
- Ability to operate in a multi cultural, multi country environment
- Management of a multi-vendor eco system
- Manage expectations of multiple stakeholders – partners, vendors, dealers
- Manage complex assignments / projects in a different environment
- Handle internal pressure to bring down costs of products through engaging in innovative value addition solutions for products
- Control on benchmark pricing for structural work due to market dynamics of raw material prices in Africa viz. steel, copper etc.
- Possess a qualification from a recognized institution, preferably an MBA
- Have a minimum of 10-12 years of experience in sourcing / commercial/ procurement role with at least 5 years of experience in commercial negotiation
