Bukura Agricultural College is a state corporation in the Ministry of Agriculture. The college offers middle level training in agriculture and related fields. The College seeks to recruit qualified persons to fill the following vacancies.
Deputy Principal

Job Description
The Deputy Principal will be the principal assistant to the Principal.
Specific duties will entail coordination and supervision of the College Academic arm including departmental heads; coordination of the development and implementation of departmental work plans and budgets; coordination and compilation of Periodic and Annual Reports in liaison with the heads of departments; and he /she will also be required to participate in the teaching activities, research and consultancy.

For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have;
  • A Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: – Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Education, Agriculture and Home Economics, Agribusiness, Horticulture, Food Science and Technology, Animal Science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), or any other related and equivalent disciplines from a recognized institution;
  • Served as a Senior Principal Lecturer or in an equivalent grade for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Evidence in research and publication in training materials;
  • Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence in implementation, management & administration of training programmes; and
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
Lecturer I
BAC 7 – Three (3) Posts

Job Description
Duties at this level will involve the preparation of training materials and schemes of work for trainees; designing specialized training programmes; conducting lectures in the area of specialization; delivering specialized training programs; supervising practical and demonstrations and assessing performance of trainees.
In addition, one will be required to participate actively in the production of training materials, guiding and counseling students and running of Seminars/Workshops. In addition he/she will be required to carry out research under the guidance of a more senior lecturer.
Job Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have: -
  • A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Agricultural Education and Extension, Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science/ICT or any other related discipline from a recognized institution;
  • Served as a Lecturer II or equivalent position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.
Farm Manager
BAC 7 – One (1) Post

Job Description
At this level the officer will be responsible for developing and implementing farm plans, budgets, marketing strategies and annual performance contracts; overseeing the collection of farm revenue; management of all farm activities; maintenance of farm machinery and structures; monitoring and evaluation of various farm enterprises; and supervision of on-farm demonstrations and trails; staff supervision and appraisal and preparation of periodic farm reports.

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
  • A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Agriculture, Agribusiness and Marketing, Agricultural Economics or any other related and equivalent qualification from a recognized University;
  • A relevant work experience of three (3) years on a busy farm;

  • Proficiency in Computer Applications.

Lecturer II
BAC 6 – Seven (7) Posts

Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for the lecturers. A lecturer at this level will be involved in preparation of training materials and schemes of work for trainees; designing specialized training programmes; conducting lectures in an area of specialization; delivering specialized training programs; supervising practical and demonstrations and assessing performance.
In addition, the lecturer will be required to organize and conduct students outreach programmes, educational tours and visits.

  • For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Education and Extension, Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness, Soil Science, Biotechnology or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.

  • A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Mathematics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or any other related discipline from a recognized institution and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.
Instructor III
BAC 4 – Four (4) Posts

Job description
This is the entry and training grade for Instructors. An Instructor at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of the relevant course lecturer.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include undertaking training; demonstration; preparation of training materials and equipments; assembling and preparation of practical materials, preparation for practical classes and ensuring safe custody of practical materials.
Job specifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, Laboratory Technology or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
Human Resource Management Assistant II

Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for the Human Resource Management Officers.
Work at this level involves drafting routine correspondences, control of the staff complement/establishment, sorting and filing mails, shelving and retrieval of personal files and preparation of the payroll.

  • A KCSE mean grade C- (minus) or its approved equivalent;
  • have a Diploma in Human Resource/Personnel Management or Industrial Relations from a recognized Institution; and

Security Officer II

Job Description
Duties and responsibilities at this level entail: planning, carrying out and maintaining security arrangements of the college property; coordinating investigative activities within the college; organizing for fire drills and filing security reports.
In addition, he/she will ensure that College safety equipments are in working conditions; liaise with Kenya Police and other security organs in maintaining College security and advising the Principal on security matters of the College.
Job Specifications
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
  • A KCSE mean grade D+ (plus) or its equivalent;
  • Served for a minimum period of three (3) years in a security firm;
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
  • A valid one week First Aid certificate from Kenya Red Cross or St. John’s Ambulance; and

Accounts Assistant II

Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for accounts cadre. An officer at this level will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting work of limited scope and complexity under guidance of a more senior officer.
Specifically, work will involve verification of payment vouchers in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations; collation of financial estimates; determination of aggregate expenditure; collection of revenue; control of expenditure and below-the-line group of accounts and general accounting work involving book-keeping knowledge and routine accounting entries.

  • Part I of CPA or its equivalent from a recognized institution; and

As Records Management Assistant II work at this level entails preparing records for appraisal; listing of records selected for preservation; microfilming of records; preparing and binding of documents; arrangement and indexing of records and retrieval of records.

Driver III

Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for Drivers.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling and oil systems, electrical system, tyre pressure, brakes, etc; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems; maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned to him/her; driving the vehicle as authorized; security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road; safety of the passengers and/or goods therein and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
  • A KCSE mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent;
  • A valid Class A driving license free from any endorsements ;
  • Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III from the Ministry of Public Works;
  • At least four (4) years previous satisfactory driving experience after obtaining the driving license;
  • A valid First Aid Certificate from Kenya Red Cross Society or St. John’s Ambulance; and
  • A valid certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police.
Auxiliary Staff II

Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An Auxiliary staff will perform general and routine duties of a messenger, cleaner or a tea girl, as may be assigned by a supervisor in a section where he/she is deployed.
