Assistant Legal Manager Job Vacancy in Kenya

Our client is looking for a suitable candidate to fill an Assistant Legal Manager position.
The position:

The major role of the Assistant Legal Manager is to support the Company Secretary/Legal Manager and the Senior Management in Legal and Company secretariat matters, including research, interpretations and embedding legal processes within the business.

The role will support the Kenya businesses which include Life Assurance, Asset Managers, Investment and brokerage Services.
 

The role holder will report to the Company Secretary/Legal Manager
The main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Review existing and proposed legislation and advise the business on implications and compliance requirements,
  • Embed legal processes within the business segments,
  • Prepare and/or review legal contracts, agreements and any other legal documents,
  • Assist in claims management, litigation and dispute resolution
  • Train staff on legislative and industry changes,
  • Research and prepare legal opinions.
Minimum qualifications:
  • LLB degree from a recognised university
  • Advocate of the high court of Kenya
  • Professional qualification such as CPS (K), CPA (K), ACII or equivalent
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a commercial law firm or a financial services organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • High business acumen
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
