Senior Credit Analyst – SME Credit Unit: KCB Bank Jobs

The Position
Reporting to the Head of SME, the position will be responsible for supporting the growth of retail business/SME & micro-finance loan portfolios by making quality and prudent credit decisions and review of the processes and credit policies that facilitate the SME Credit Unit service delivery within the bank.
Key Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of this position will be:
  • Assessing and approving facility applications within discretion limits and making recommendations to higher authority for facilities above personal discretion limit
  • Ensure compliance with service standards as per SLA terms to support business growth and ensure efficient turnaround time (TAT) on facility approvals
  • Provide advice/coaching/guidance/training on all aspects of credit including policy and procedures, as may be required by SME Credit Unit business loans’ team and branch credit teams

  • Ensure customer complaints/enquiries on credit matters escalated to SME Credit Unit are prudently and effectively resolved
  • Monitoring/monthly reporting of portfolio performance and Portfolio at Risk (PAR) with a view to making appropriate recommendations on the target schemes
  • Provide leadership to a team of Credit Analysts to ensure optimum performance
  • Provide technical input in development of new or repackaged credit products and support review from time to time of the policies and processes governing lending in the bank
  • Assist to develop and ensure adherence to KCB Retail Lending Policies, CBK Prudential guidelines and best practice in approval and conduct of facilities within the delegated limits
The Person
In order to be considered for this position all applicants should have the following:-
  • A degree from a recognized University. An MBA or professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage
  • Advanced level credit courses
  • 5 year’s management experience 3 of which should be in credit covering credit analysis, financial analysis monitoring and control of loans
  • Experience in Audit will be an added advantage
  • Excellent financial analysis skills
  • Knowledge of Kenyan banking laws and the legal framework around Banks’ lending policies
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong personality that is results driven
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Possess the ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
