Job Title: Retail Store Assistant Manager

General Purpose of Position:
Working with the Department Managers, the Store Manager, and any other Assistant Store Manager as part of the management team, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the store. Responsibilities include executing merchandising plans, maintaining inventory levels, overseeing markdown compliance, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, and assisting in management of all areas of store operations as needed.
The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the store. He/she will be a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the workforce and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified applicants to meet the store’s needs.
  • Conduct orientation, train, coach, and develop associates in execution of daily tasks.
  • Maximize sales and measure sales performance on a daily basis by reference to class sales reports from year prior on same day.

  • Coordinate sales promotion activities and pricing of merchandise.
  • Oversee floor moves, preparation of merchandise displays and presentations, exercising judgment and discretion in applying merchandising concepts and guidelines.
  • Oversee proper pricing of merchandise and ensure all price changes are made.
  • Facilitate proper communication between store managers and the buying office about comparative shopping analyses, fast and slow selling classifications and styles, planning and adjusting stock levels, and customer requests.
  • Coordinate the flow of merchandise to the sales floor.
  • Oversee compliance of associates with established company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of Company funds and property, personnel practices, and security, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Help solve problems that affect the store’s service, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Lock and secure the store.
  • Provide and inspire outstanding service to our customers.
  • Exercise judgment and discretion alone, and in conjunction with the Store Manager, and any other colleagues in the day-to-day operations of the store.
  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to manage the till/check-out counter and ensure that cashiers balance out correctly at the end of the day.
  • Ability to develop and train workforce, build relationships, utilize skills of workforce most appropriately.
  • Ability to merchandise effectively.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to workforce.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain records and documentation pertaining to workforce.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide instructions to fellow colleagues.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Retail management experience of at least 2 years preferred.
  • Availability to work the hours necessary to open and/or close the store.
  • Ability to handle multi-million sales volume.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills.
  • Availability to travel, as needed.
Education Requirements:
  • Relevant Business degree
  • Retail management experience preferred.
Remuneration:
  • 40,000/= to 50,000/= gross per month
Age: 28-35 years preferred.
