Project Officer – Finance & Administration Job Vacancy

Our client in the NGO sector is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the Project Officer – Finance & Administration position.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the job holder will provide leadership and effective financial reporting.
Job Summary
The job holder will manage financial transactions involving general funds, grants, contracts and/or gift accounts. S(he) will assist in grant financial planning and cost analysis and analyze financial data to ensure efficient use of resources and compliance with organizational and/or Developmental Partner regulations and restrictions.
Duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:-
  • Be involved in budget forecasting, preparation, and ensuring that the budgets are adhered to.
  • Prepare the monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Write the cashbook, cash book reconciliation, general ledger and prepare management reports and recommendations for the Program Manager every month.
  • Ensure petty cash and working advances are well accounted for.
  • Provide technical support and information to Program Administrators in relation to the latest financial requirements.

  • Reconcile debtors and creditors on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure Grants received or paid out are recorded and accounted for accurately and promptly.
Academic Qualifications:-
  • A first Degree in the Business/Social Sciences. A Bachelors of Commerce Finance Option will be an definite advantage
  • Be a qualified Accountant- CPA K/ ACCA Finalist is mandatory.
  • Excellent computer knowledge in Quick books, Excel and Word a must.
  • Working knowledge of, SPSS or Epi data, Microsoft power point, and access would be an added advantage.
Experience and Personality Desired:-
  • At least 2 (two) year relevant working experience.
  • Previous Experience in the funding agencies particularly USAID in the same capacity will be an added advantage.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Keen on details with high level of initiative.
  • A hard working individual willing to put in extra hours of work when need arises.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • An individual with absolute Integrity mark.
