Our client, a large Group of companies with presence in Sub-Saharan and Southern Africa Regions dealing  predominantly in manufacturing, marketing and industry exposure seeks suitably qualified candidates to fill various positions in the Human Resources Division.
1. General Manager Human Resources 
(1 position)

The company is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill a newly created position of General Manager, Human Resources. The qualified candidate will be over 35 years of age.
The successful candidate will be in possession of the following attributes:
Work Experience
  • The successful candidate will have held senior positions at corporate level for at least 5 years and should have a solid experience in designing and implementing performance driven HR systems.
  • The candidate should have gained experience from a predominantly manufacturing or marketing environment.
  • A candidate who may be currently in the service industry but has had manufacturing experience before could be considered.
Professional Competencies

  • The candidate should be conceptually strong in Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development or Employee Relations logistics.
  • Should have a good understanding of the business of organization development (OD), learning organization and has in-depth understanding of how talent impacts on the bottom line of the business.
  • Should provide leadership in application and administration of technology in the HR service delivery, strategic planning, development and implementation of systems, processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • In providing leadership the incumbent will be required at all times to manifest competencies in active listening, empathy, assertiveness, change and transformation management, effective communication, interpersonal skills and labour law matters.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • The selected candidate will formulate, develop and implements Company human resources strategy and provide the overall leadership, direction as well as day to day management of the HR function in the Company. He or she should be able to work in cross functional matrix situation.
  • The position will report directly to the Company’s COO but will have matrix reporting to the Group’s Regional HR Head and the Group HR Officer. This involves ability to develop work programs as well make contacts on regular basis with functional managers in the Company which operates from two sites – Athi River and Mariakani.
  • The position will be based at Athi River. The successful candidate will support the recruitment and development of employees in line with the strategic needs of the business.
  • He/she will support the line managers and HRM managers both at Athi River and Mariakani in shaping of the Company culture through the establishment and championing of the best HR practices.
  • He/she will develop and implement the HR policies (guidelines) in accordance with legislation in Kenya and ensure that MRM all corporate policies are operationalized and reviewed regularly to sustain currency.
  • Ensure the company promotes or recruits and places talent correctly and motivates it sufficiently to spar passion for excellence.
  • Ensure key HR processes and measures are developed and communicated to all functional managers for effective application in time and to provide follow up and necessary assistance to fulfill the investment mandate.
  • Provide support and coaching/mentoring for all managers.
  • Initiate programs that adhere to the progressive and dynamic best practices in HR.
  • Knowledge and experience in SAP application and Paterson TASK system are desirable for consideration on the shortlist.
Education: The successful candidate will have an MBA in human resources management and human resources development or equivalent qualifications from a prestigious university.
2. Human Resources Manager 
(1 position)
The company is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position(s) of Human Resources Manager based at Mariakani, Mombasa. The qualified candidate will be at least 30 years of age.
Work Experience
  • The successful candidate will have held similar positions at corporate level for at least 5 years and should have a solid experience in designing and implementing performance driven HR systems.
  • The candidate should have gained experience from a predominantly manufacturing or marketing environment.
Professional Competencies
  • The candidate should be conceptually strong in Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development or Employee Relations logistics.
  • In providing leadership the incumbent will be required at all times to manifest competencies in active listening, empathy, assertiveness, change and transformation management, effective communication, interpersonal skills and labour law matters.

  • The selected candidate will work closely with the GM Human Resources in formulation, development and implementation of Company human resources strategy. He or she should be able to work in cross functional matrix situation.
  • The position will report directly to the Company’s GM Human Resources, but will have matrix reporting to the COO at Athi River. The incumbent will develop a good working relationship with the Group’s Regional HR Manager at the Horn of Africa Regional office in Nairobi.
  • Ensure the company promotes or recruits and places talent correctly and motivates it sufficiently to spar passion for excellence and support best practices in HR.
  • Ensure key HR processes and measures are developed and communicated to all functional managers for effective application in time and to provide follow up and necessary assistance to fulfill the investment mandate.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of the SAP and Paterson TASK job evaluation system are a must for consideration on the shortlist
Education: The successful candidate will have a good first degree in HR Management or equivalent.
