The Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is a 100% state-owned company with the mandate to fast track development of geothermal resources. Geothermal energy is an indigenous, abundant, affordable, reliable and environmentally- friendly source of electricity.
To achieve its objectives, GDC is seeking to engage highly motivated staff to support the development of steam equivalent to 5000 MW in the next 20 years.
They will be responsible for undertaking surface exploration and working on drill rigs in volcanic sites including Magadi, Bogoria, Arus, Lake Baringo, Chyulu, Masa Mukye, Homa Hills, Menengai, Barrier, Namarunu, Emuruangogolak, Silali, Korosi, Paka, Badlands, Chepchuk among others.
The ideal candidates should be able to work in camping environments in remote areas, aged between 21 and 35 years and have the following attributes: team player, high integrity, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexible and willing to work long with minimal supervision.

Supply Chain Department

1. Senior Supply Chain Officers

Age below 30 years
Responsible to the Chief Officer, Supply Chain, the officer will process orders, supervise the stores function; coordinate disposal of obsolete, surplus or scrap items and coordinate the inspection and acceptance of goods, works or services.
Qualifications: Degree (Upper 2nd Class Hons) in a business related field; Diploma in Purchasing and supply (CIPS Level 6 or any other) from recognized institution and three (3) years experience in Public Procurement. Competence in computerized procurement, knowledge of ERP and membership of KISM is required.
2. Supply Chain Officers

Responsible to the Senior Officer, Supply Chain, the incumbent will be in-charge of the procurement registry in Nairobi and Area offices; maintain a register of tender/quotation references and maintain a comprehensive and efficient filing and retrieval system.
Qualifications: Degree (Upper 2nd Class Hons) in a business related field; diploma in Purchasing and Supply or records management and two (2) years experience in procurement records management. Competence in computerized procurement, knowledge of ERP and membership of KISM is required.
3. Administrative Assistant

Responsible to the Manager Supply Chain, this officer will manage enquiries and forward them to the relevant section for action and maintain custody of confidential procurement records.
Qualifications: Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management (Credit Pass – KNEC) or Secretarial Studies. This position requires at least three (3) years experience in a busy procurement environment.
Finance Department
4. Senior Accountants

Responsible to the Chief Accountant, the officer is expected to have a thorough understanding of finance and accounting procedures and demonstrated leadership competencies.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (2nd Class Hons) in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics or its equivalent; Possession of Certified Public Accountants Part III qualification and Eight (8) years experience in accounting. Computerized accounting and knowledge of ERP is required.
5. Accountants

Responsible to a Senior Accountant, this officer will be responsible for providing financial and administrative support, processing and monitoring payments, receipts and expenditures.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (2nd class Hons) plus CPA II or its equivalent. Candidates with CPA (K) and adequate experience will also be considered. Must have served as an Assistant Accountant for at least 3 years; Computerized accounting knowledge is required.
Human Resources Department
6. Human Resources Officers

Responsible to the Senior Officer, Employee Relations, the officer will be responsible for the development and review of job descriptions for all positions in GDC and maintaining an up-to-date database of staff movement, among other HR duties.
Qualifications: Degree (Upper 2nd Class Hons) in social sciences; Higher Diploma in HR; a good understanding of the Employment Act (2007); Ms Office Proficiency, people management and communication skills and computerized HR Management skills.
7. Human Resources Officer, Staff Pension Administration

Responsible to Senior Officer, Employee Relations; the officer will coordinate a comprehensive pension’s service to all GDC employees in liaison with scheme administrators.
Qualifications: Degree (Upper 2nd class Hons) in social sciences or other relevant field-Higher Diploma in HR; good understanding of the Kenya Labor Laws (2007) and computerized HR Management skills.
Infrastructure and Logistics
8. Project Engineers

Responsible to the Chief Projects Engineer, Project Engineers will be responsible for planning, execution, reporting and documentation of projects.
Qualifications: Bsc (2nd class Hons) Mechanical/Electrical/ Civil from a recognized university; post graduate training in Project Management; must have at least three (3) years working experience. Must have been involved in at least two successful projects and must have good working knowledge of projects/Engineering design software (eg Ms Project, AutoCAD).
9. Projects Technicians – (Civil, Electrical & Mechanical)

Responsible to the Projects Engineer, Project Technicians will be responsible of carrying out construction engineering designs, supervising works and reporting on progress.
Qualifications: Diploma (electrical/ civil/ Mechanical); Diploma Civil (Roads const/building technology/ water & sewerage) are also required; must be have experience of at least 3 years experience in a busy environment and must have good working knowledge of projects/Engineering design software (eg Ms Project, AutoCAD).
10. Surveyor

Responsible to the Civil Engineer, the officer will be responsible for precise surveying of access roads, drill pads leveling and other construction engineering works.
Qualifications: National Diploma in Surveying & Photogrametry (Credit Pass); five (5) years experience in engineering surveying (mainly civil construction projects); and good knowledge of computer based digital mapping and design software (like autoCAD)
11. Contracts Administrator

Responsible to the Manager, Infrastructure and Logistics, the officer will be responsible for contracts administration and documentation during projects execution.
Qualifications: Diploma (Credit Pass -KNEC) in Building Tech/ Construction Engineering or Contracts Law; must have a post graduate diploma in contracts law/ projects management; must have working experience in an office dealing with government contracting and documentation. Must have working knowledge of Projects/Engineering design software (eg Ms Project, AutoCAD).
12. Machine Operators

Age below 35 years
Responsible for operating earth moving equipment and a range of motorized tools and machines including bulldozers, graders, excavators, wheel-loaders heavy duty dumping trucks, rock braking machines, compressors, Jack hammers, among others.
Qualifications: Must have attained O-levels. In addition the candidate; must have government (KHIBIT) certificate of operations of the listed civil equipment; must have a valid HCV driving license (authorized to operate Articulated MV); must have 5 years working experience working with the equipment listed above. Training in basic Mechanics (maintenance) will have added advantage.
Drilling Department
Experience in oil and gas or geothermal drilling rig operations will be an added advantage. Only certificates from recognized Institutions shall be accepted. These jobs are highly demanding and the ideal candidates should be able to work for long hours in remote places.
13. Drilling Engineers

Responsible to the Senior Drilling Engineer, the officer’s key responsibilities will include providing engineering support in the drilling rig operations, drilling planning, budgeting, offering logistical support, preparation and execution of drilling programs.
Qualifications: Bsc (2nd Class Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with five (5) years experience in an engineering function. Knowledge of ICT (Database Management) will be an added advantage.
14. Drilling Technicians

Responsible to the Drilling Superitendent, the officer’s Key responsibilities will include offering leadership and guidance of drilling operations to ensure that all wells are drilled in a safe, timely, efficient and cost-effective manner in accordance with the drilling programs.
Qualifications: A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with five (5) years experience in an engineering function.
15. Cementing Engineers

Responsible to the Senior Drilling Engineer, the officer’s key Responsibilities will include designing and supervising drilling cementing services for all geothermal wells as per cementing programs and ensuring cement properties are correct by carrying out lab tests to cement slurries.
Qualifications: Bsc (Upper 2nd Class Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with five (5) years experience in an engineering function. Knowledge of ICT (Database Management) will be an added advantage.
16. Cementing Technicians

Responsible to the Cementing Engineer, the officer’s key responsibilities will include operating cementing equipment and provision of drilling cementing services to all geothermal wells as per cementing programs.
Qualifications: National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with three (3) years experience in an engineering function and computer literate.
17. Rig Maintenance Engineers

18. Rig Maintenance Technicians (Mechanical)

23. Senior Officer, Drilling Catering Services

The main purpose of this job is to manage the drilling camp and to provide catering and hospitality services.
Responsible to Manager, Drilling Operations, the officer’s key responsibilities will include carrying out day-to-day management of the rig camp, supervising accommodation, food and camp laundry services and managing all the suppliers and service providers at the rig camp.
Qualifications: National Diploma (Credit pass – KNEC) in Food and Beverage from a recognized institution and at least five (8) years experience in the management or provision of catering services in a busy organization and must be computer literate.
24. Officers, Drilling Catering Services

Legal Department
25. Legal Officer

Responsible to the Chief Officer, Legal Services, the main purpose of this job is to provide legal advice to the Company to ensure legal and regulatory compliance at all times. Key responsibilities include provision of legal opinion, drafting and review of contracts, monitoring of legal and regulatory compliance and assisting in Board corporate planning.
Qualifications: Degree (2nd Class Hons) in Law, Post Graduate Diploma in Law, at least eight (8) years post qualification experience, Certified Public Secretary, Advocate of the High Court and ICT knowledge is a must.
26. Insurance Officer

Responsible to the Chief Officer, Legal Services, the officer’s key responsibilities include managing insurance claims, advising on insurance matters, negotiating insurance renewal and providing reports to appropriate officers.
