Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES) is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)
and the University of California, San Francisco. It is a dynamic comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment program in Kenya.
The Program has received funding for the next five years and is in the process of restructuring. The following position is available for competition for both internal and external candidates. The program is seeking a motivated, proactive individual to fill the following positions:
Position: Provincial HIV Care and Treatment Advisor
Vacancy No: FN2-1-10
Location: Kisumu-based, responsible for: Kisumu East, Rongo, Migori, Nyatike and Suba Districts
Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine registered with the Kenya Medical and Dentists Practitioners Board
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing a health program
  • Minimum 4 years experience in HIV service provision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as advisor for a large HIV prevention, care and treatment program serving 5 districts in Nyanza
  • Lead strategic planning, quality of care, mentorship initiatives, program evaluations and continuing medical education focusing on adult and pediatric HIV care and TB/HIV care
  • Oversee HIV-related program areas including adult and pediatric HIV care and treatment and TB/HIV care
  • Work closely with Provincial Ministry of Health, District coordinators and District program officers to increase MOH ownership and capacity
Position: Deputy Director Information Systems
Vacancy No: FN2 -04 -10
Location: Based in Kisumu with frequent visit to other districts of operation within Nyanza
Requirements
  • Masters degree in statistics, epidemiology, public health, international health, or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the monitoring and evaluation of HIV programs
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Extensive data management and analytical experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Summary: The deputy director of information systems will provide program health systems leadership. He/she will be responsible for health systems planning, implementation, and evaluation of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in Nyanza Province, Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide program leadership in the planning and implementation of health systems to monitor and evaluate FACES supported HIV prevention, care, and treatment services
  • Manage data, M&E, ICT, and software programming departments
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of systematic procedures and reports to assess program performance and progress in the areas of HIV care and treatment, PMTCT, HIV counseling and testing, and male circumcision
  • Work closely with MOH counterparts, including health facility site visits, to ensure systems are in alignment with HMIS standards and to strengthen health facility systems capacity
  • Plan and facilitate/co-facilitate systems-related trainings for FACES and MOH staff
  • Work closely with UCSF, research investigators, FACES directors and coordinators, MOH, CDC, and local stakeholders to determine, guide, collaborate, and support project needs
  • Represent FACES and participate in systems-related provincial and national meetings and forums
Position: Assistant District Program Coordinator
Vacancy No: FN2—05 -2010
Location: Nyatike and Migori districts
Key Requirements:
  • Degree in Medicine and registered (or eligible) to practice with the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Board
  • Minimum 1 year experience in management and HIV Clinical care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of MS office
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills
  • Must be a team player and motivator
Duties include:
  • Development of program systems to ensure delivery of high quality accessible HIV prevention, care and treatment services in the districts we support
  • Oversight of the implementation of the programs developed including clinical care, mentoring, training, site evaluation and development, counseling and education, community follow-up, commodity management, and monitoring and evaluation at the district level.
  • Oversight of budget development and participation in budget management
  • Developing and maintaining relations with the partners including the Ministry of Health, collaborators and donors
  • Clinical mentoring and training
  • Leadership development and capacity building
The job involves approximately 50% program development and coordination, and 50% clinical mentoring and patient
care.
