Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Economics and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized institution.
In addition, the applicant must have at least five (5) years experience in managing a business company or an organization, three (3) of which must have been at a Senior Management level.
Responsibility:-

The incumbent will be in-charge of co-ordination and management of all income generating enterprises of the University.
This is a Senior Management position requiring an individual who is dynamic, focused, self-driven, honest and with capacity to generate and implement sound business plans on behalf of the University and deliver within set targets and timelines.
He/She shall prepare quarterly and annual reports to the Company Board of Directors of Egerton University Investment Company and/or University Management Board.
2. Marketing and Communication Manager

Applicants should have a Bachelors degree with at least three (3) years experience in marketing and communication in a large organization.
Other desired attributes include:-

He/She will work closely with the office of the Vice Chancellor but will report to the Director, Institutional Advancement.
The applicant for the position of Marketing and Communications Manager is expected to:-
  • Create, implement and oversee communications and marketing strategies that promote the University.
  • Disseminate information regarding Egerton University through newspapers, periodicals, brochures, electronic media and other forms of communication including organized University functions.
  • Responsible for the University public relations that include writing press releases, speeches, maintaining an attractive and vibrant website, planning University events.
  • Promoting the University and its products and services, including Branding of the University and tracking trends in Higher education and
  • Packaging information about the University for different audience and processing of feedback for appropriate action by the relevant University department.
3. Hotel Manager (ARC Hotel)

Applicants must be a holder of degree in Hotel Management from a recognized institution with at least five (5) years experience in a busy hotel (three-star or above). Holders of Higher National Diploma in Hotel Management with at least ten (10) years experience in a busy hotel (three-star or above) will be considered.
Candidates in possession of additional professional or postgraduate qualification in marketing, business or human resource management will have an added advantage. Competency in foreign languages, such as French, German, Spanish, Japanese, will be an added advantage.
He/She must be computer literate, conversant with the relevant laws regarding hospitality industry.
The Hotel Manager must possess good strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate outstanding leadership. He/She should also be fluent in English and Swahili.
Duties and Responsibilities:-
The incumbent who reports to the University Business Manager will co-ordinate all functions of the hotel, ensure efficient and effective operations to maximize on hotel profitability, ensure cordial relations between hotel, clients and industry, be responsible for planning and preparation of annual budget and work plans, establish hotel performance benchmarks/targets, establish a strong customer care and perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the University Business Manager.
The Hotel Manager oversees all aspects of the hotel operations including:- guest relations, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, finances, team building and staff development.
4. Chef

Applicants must have Diploma in Food Production from a recognized institution. He/She must have at least five (5) years catering experience in a busy hotel (three-star or above).
He/She must have excellent computer skills, communication skills, negotiation skills and demonstrate leadership.
This position requires strong attention to detail, leadership skills and the ability to effectively deal with department heads, guests and team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:-
The Chef will be responsible for planning and executing the preparation of menus, oversee the food production in the kitchens in compliance with requisite quality and safety standards, responsible for preparation of requisitions and utilization of food stocks.
He/She will supervise the kitchen staff and ensure highest standards in food production, handling and presentation.
Specifically he/she should:
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Review menu and determine food and labour policy to control costs.
  • Supervise cooking and other kitchen personnel and ensure economical and timely food production.
  • Devises special dishes and develop recipes.
  • Participate in the hiring, training and discharging of employees.
  • Responsible for adherence to sanitation and public health laws.
  • And to perform other tasks as assigned by the Investment Manager.
5. Farm Manager (Ngongogeri Farm)

The Farm Manager is responsible for the management of all enterprises in the farm and will report to the Investment Manager.
The Farm Manager will be in-charge of the farm and responsible for: – day-to-day running of the farm, human resources and farm operations for both crop and livestock.
The Farm Manager shall be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for the farm in line with the University Strategic Plan. He/She will be expected to prepare business plans for the various farm enterprises and will be responsible for the financial management of the farm.
In addition, the Farm Manager must innovatively and efficiently run the farm for optimal productivity and profitability. He/She will be responsible for updating and safekeeping of all farm records and assets.
The Farm Manager shall prepare quarterly and annual reports.
Qualification:-
This position requires a person with thorough knowledge in Farm Management and farming as a business enterprise.
He/She is expected to:-
  • Have a Bachelor of Science degree in any Agricultural related discipline. Candidates in possession of postgraduate qualifications in an Agricultural discipline or business management will have an added advantage.
  • Have at least five (5) years experience in managing a large scale mixed farm with dairy and commercial crop enterprises.
  • Be dynamic, self-driven, focused, disciplined and be a team player.
  • Reside on the farm.
Terms of Service
The successful applicants for the above five (5) positions will be hired on a three (3) year contract term with competitive negotiated remuneration package. The contract will be based on agreed performance targets and is
renewable on mutual agreement.

Applicants should be holders of a Ph.D. degree in Librarianship or Library and Information Science from a recognized Institution. He/She must have at least five (5) years post-qualification experience as a Senior Librarian in a large academic Library. Applicants with Masters degree and have at least ten (10) years experience at University level will also be considered.
In addition, applicants must be competent in the relevant ICT applications, Integrated Library Software and e-information. They should show evidence in research and publications and other professional activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of Library development, planning, budgeting, automation, organization management of the University Library system.
Terms of Service
  • Permanent and pensionable following a satisfactory probationary period of six (6) months.
Salary Scale
  • University Librarian Grade XV – Kshs.96,000 – 144,000 per month
