Nature Kenya Jobs: Marketing Communicator

Nature Kenya is looking for an individual, with a passion for the environment, who wants to contribute to its conservation by informing and engaging people on a wide-range of conservation related topics.
Nature Kenya is celebrating 100 years in nature conservation. It is a non-profit Society of members working with government agencies, non-governmental organisations and 17 communities around the country.  Nature Kenya’s aim is to promote the study and conservation of nature, which it actions through advocacy, education, information, community action, monitoring and membership.
Responsibilities include:
1.     Writing for Nature Kenya online and printed publications
2.     Liaising with media and other publishers in distribution of communication material
3.     Providing support to Editors and editorial committees
4.     Managing day-to-day online communication
5.     Developing communication tools and materials
6.     Organising events as a communication means
The position requires someone who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Keen interest in natural history and conservation
  • Good judgment, creativity, and an enthusiastic attitude
  • Is a good organiser, planner and is able to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and have good time management
Qualifications:
1.     Able to write and communicate clearly and persuasively, cogently and concisely to a variety of audiences
2.     Have nature writing experience, demonstrated by blogs, brochures, articles, other media features or exhibits a must
3.     An understanding of the link between conservation, development and livelihoods
4.     Ability to work with Abode packages, Wordpress and Drupal is an added advantage
5.     Candidates with the above qualities and who hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as marketing, journalism or communications or who have three years experience have an advantage.
