Functional Title:  GBC PPP Technical Adviser
Org. Unit: Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) Reporting to: GBC Regional Director and the Project Chief of Party.
Date of Issue: May 15th 2010 Contract Type: 2 year fixed term contract, with potential 3 year extension, if project is extended. Duty Station: GBC Nairobi Office
II. Organizational Context
Under the overall supervision of the GBC Vice President and Regional Director, the PPP Technical Adviser will work with the GBC team both in Nairobi and New York and the project team to drive the PPP component of the project.
III. Functions / Key Results Expected
Summary of Key Functions:
Identifying and coordinating PPPs that support:
  • Sponsorship of youth leadership development
  • Promotion of  economic opportunities for youth
  • Promotion of education and advancement for youth
Reporting to the GBC Regional Director in Nairobi and the Project Chief of Party, the GBC PPP Technical Advisor on the HFG Partnership will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

1.     Lead strategy development and planning of the PPP component for the HIV Free Generation (HFG) Partnership as part of the core project team, including the development of a standardized PPP implementation framework.
2.     Work with the entire GBC family to devise and deliver PPPs through the utilization of GBCs global teams of member companies and strategic partners, including assisting companies in the conceptualization and program design of their partnership based on their core competencies/services.
3.     Provide HIV prevention technical assistance to identify the strongest private sector and USG implementing partners for identified PPPs, including monitoring and supervising each PPP to meet its project objectives and targets.
4.     Lead GBC’s planning and decision-making processes on component 3, focusing on the creation and execution of high-impact PPP strategies, and ensuring they align with both GBC’s goals and the stated USAID/HFG outcomes.
5.     Supervise and coordinate GBCs involvement and representation in the overall partnership between the various stakeholders (GBC and PATH; GBC Kenya Office and GBC global offices, GBC and PPP partners, PMC and KSC, etc) including ensuring all necessary work plans, MOUs, reporting requirements, progress reports and reviews, M&E targets and process indicators, documentation and guidelines, etc are executed correctly and consistently applied towards the overall goal of the partnerships.
6.     Mentor the HFG PMC staff on how to identify, launch and execute effective PPPs so that the PMC is sustainable in this area.
7.     All other tasks and deliverables as stated in the Task Order Proposal, and agreed upon by GBC Regional Director and the Project Chief of Party.

VI. Recruitment Qualifications
Education: Post-graduate degree in social sciences or health, or equivalent academic preparation.
Experience:
  • At least 6 years experience in private sector mobilization, collaboration and partnerships development.
  • Considerable experience at country, regional and/or international levels in the field of HIV.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering partnerships with a range of sectors, including civil society, government and intergovernmental organizations.
  • Experience in network development, negotiation and advocacy would be an added advantage.
Language Requirements: Excellent command of English and working knowledge of Kiswahili.
