African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) Jobs: Training and Extension (T&E) Director

African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) is a regional international institution whose main mandate is poverty reduction through human capacity development. The Institute is jointly funded by the governments of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Japan through JICA. The Head Office of AICAD is located in Juja, Kenya at the campus of
the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
AICAD hereby invites applications from qualified Kenyan nationals to fill the following position immediately:
Training and Extension (T&E) Director (1 Post)
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the successful applicant will assist the Deputy Executive Director in providing efficient and effective leadership in coordinating and planning of the Institute’s T&E activities for the Institute to meet its objectives.
The position requires a mature, self-motivated, articulate and flexible person with experience in training programme planning and management, budget preparation, project proposal writing, fundraising, and resource mobilization among others.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Head the division of T&E,
  • develop appropriate training policies and procedures in line with the Institute’s mission,
  • reviewing country offices budgets and activities related to T&E,
  • coordinate the training programmes of the Institute,
  • provide strategic advice to the Deputy Executive Director on all matters relating to training programme planning and management,
  • prepare training curricula and materials,
  • develop monitoring and evaluation systems and instruments, prepare periodic reports on T&E activities,
  • coordinate the identification of training needs,
  • training target groups and resource persons,
  • participate in organizing fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives and to perform such other duties as shall be assigned by the Deputy Executive Director
Qualifications:
  • Should have a postgraduate degree either in Agricultural Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences or Humanities and Social Science plus at least five years in teaching/research and administrative experience at higher learning institution or a research institution or governmental or private/international organization.
  • A doctorate degree will be an added advantage.
  • The successful candidate should demonstrate good leadership ability and proven ability to attract and manage good relations with development partners.
  • He/she must have good interpersonal relations, communication skills and be IT competent.

  • The appointment is for 5-year renewable contract
  • The duty station is at the AICAD Head Office, Juja, Kenya.
