World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) - Recruiting a Data Manager and Analyst - MVP




The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is supporting the implementation of the Millennium Villages Project (MVP).

This five (5) year project employs a community-based integrated development approach to help lift rural communities out of the poverty trap that afflicts more than a billion people worldwide.

The Millennium Villages Project (MVP) is supported by Millennium Promise, a non-profit organization, whose vision is the eradication of extreme global poverty.

Millennium Promise’s mission is to encourage individuals and organizations to join the fight against global poverty, disease, and hunger through an unprecedented campaign that draws on the support of all parts of society — individuals, businesses, charitable organizations, faith-based groups, governments — to ensure the success of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 and the end of extreme poverty by 2025.
Position:

The MDG Centre is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of a  Database Manager and Analyst. The incumbent will be based in Kisumu.

Reporting to the Team Leader in Sauri (primary supervisor), and to the MVP Data Team Coordinator in New York on issues related to regional survey data related activities, the MVP Data Manager and Analyst will:

  • Provide overall supervision to data collection activities in Saun MVP;
  • Perform statistical analysis of both biophysical and socioeconomic data in Sauri using software such as STATA and SPSS, and other appropriate tools;
  • Contribute to Sauri analysis and reporting of impact of project interventions on welfare/socioeconomics and agriculture for reports and publications.
  • Produce summarized monitoring and evaluation data/reports as required;
  • Provide training and support to Dertu MVP team in data collection activities in the field. This includes, among other things, backstopping: field preparation activities; enumerator and data entry clerk training; data entry tern plates and data cleaning; and management and archiving of data sets;
  • Be able to provide support to other MVP sites in their data collection/analysis activities, as may be requested;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
  • A basic degree in statistics or related field
  • 3 years experience in related work, such as information systems management and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis software such as Excel, Access, STATA, SPSS, and CS Pro is required
  • Strong writing and communication skills
