Vacancy for a Project Manager

Mamabits is a consultancy for Youth Communication founded by Nairobits and Butterfly Works. Building on the experiences of (duplicating) Nairobits and the development of educational tools by Butterfly Works. We firmly believe that MamaBits has the potential to positively transform the lives of many more youth in marginalizing circumstances all over the developing world by supporting other organizations in their youth activities. 
Mamabits consists of an experienced and well-trained core-team of trainers, designers and curriculum developers. Additional knowledge and capacity is provided by a flex pool of freelancers (teachers and graduates of Nairobits and other Butterfly partners).

We are expanding and therefore we are looking for a project manager for a starting period of 6 months, who can start to start as soon as possible and who can make sure that the development of various franchises in different countries is executed in an organized and structured manner.

Key Functions:
1.    Plan, execute, and finalise projects according to strict deadlines and budgets
2.    Coordinate team members and consultants in order to deliver franchises according to plan
3.    Oversee quality control.
4.    Promote a positive image of MamaBits.

TASKS
a.      Participate in the development of MamaBits policies, goals, objectives and strategies and activities.
b.      Execute contracts with franchise holders and design appropriate training programmes for franchise holders.
c.      Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones
d.      Develop and continuously review guideline manuals for franchise holders
e.      Develop full scale project plans and associated communication documents and develop and deliver progress reports
f.      Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
g.      Determine and assess the need for project staff and consultants
h.      Provide leadership, training, supervision and guidance to franchise staff
i.       Build, develop and grow any business relations vital to each franchise
j.      Ensure that there are mechanisms to facilitate conscious and continuous learning among franchise holders.
k.      Develop and implement mechanisms for continuous evaluation of franchises.
l.       Ensure the production and appropriate circulation of relevant and timely information on franchise activities.
m.    Cultivate and encourage a culture of result-oriented productivity freelancers/ consultants.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 Academic/Professional Qualification   
·         University Degree or Higher National Diploma
·         Certification in Project Management

Skills and Attributes    
·      Sound knowledge of the development sector, the socio economic and political situation
·      Working knowledge of creative multimedia
·      Knowledge of and interest in youth and issues affecting youth
·      Sound appreciation of the Organisational Development approach to capacity building
·      Ability to work with different cultures
·      Knowledge of Project Planning
·      Ability to manage budgets
·      Ability to provide leadership and to motivate
·      Ability to network
·      Proven managerial and administrative ability
·      Report writing skills.
·      Good interpersonal skills.

·      Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

WORKING EXPERIENCE
5 YEARS’ experience in project management in an international environment.

The candidate should be prepared to travel in East Africa on a regular basis.
