UNIFEM Call for Proposal – National NGOs in Kenya – Gender Responsive Budgeting Under the Gender and Governance Programme, Phase III (GGP III)

Subject: Gender Responsive Budgeting Under the Gender and Governance Programme, Phase III (GGP III)
The proposals will contribute to the GGP III outcome 1 — increased number of Kenyan Legal frameworks, laws and policies at national and local levels that promote and protect women’s rights
The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) has been managing the Gender and Governance Programme (GGP) since July 2006. The overall goal of GGP is to ensure that Kenyan Women and men are able to access services and opportunities and exercise their rights equally.
GGP is in its third phase now and has already engaged a number of partners to implement community based activities on gender and governance.
Budgets are an important aspect of access to services, so a component of GGP III work is on Gender Responsive Budgeting (GAB).
GGP III support to GAB will initially work in three sectors — i.e. the Justice Sector, governance sector and education sector. Within the Justice the programme will be working to improve women’s access to Justice, Education sector – improve Girls’ access to education and within the Special programmes will be working to strengthen the role of Machineries in providing overall accountability and oversight.
This is a limited call for proposals for Civil society organisations that are working in/or interested in working in Gender responsive budgeting initiatives. Current GGPIII partners are not eligible for this call.
