Senior Analyst: Population Council Jobs in Kenya

Population Council is implementing a research project in Kenya to strengthen the evidence of the benefits and costs of voucher-based reproductive health service delivery.

To implement this project we wish to urgently recruit a highly competent, proactive and self-driven person to fill the following position:

Senior Analyst

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with voucher and accreditation (V&A) partners in Kenya/Uganda and elsewhere to implement evaluation of Reproductive Health (RH) to assess the effect of the V&A approach on increasing access to quality of, and



    reducing inequities in, the use of selected RH services.
  • Manage research activities for systematic evaluations of V&A approaches in Kenya/Uganda and elsewhere;
  • conduct and compare population level surveys and undertake in depth analyses;
  • supervise field coordinators for the implementation of research activities.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Officer to ensure the appropriate data collection and analysis for reporting against the Project Framework and on information dissemination and utilization of results.
  • Prepare activity workplans, budgets, reports and other required documents.
  • Enhance utilization of project findings through working with NCAPD, Ministries of Health, donors and partners.
  • Provide technical assistance for the implementation of rigorous operations research studies under the INTEGRA project to assess the relative benefits of different models of integrated SRH and HIV services.
  • Engage in other Council activities that contribute to improved understanding of V&A activities and integrated SRH/HIV in the region.
  • Demonstrate intellectual leadership in disseminating and communicating the Council’s results at national, regional and international levels through presentations, preparation of reports, and publications of papers in high impact peer reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to the development of fundraising for, and implementation of, the Council’s RH Program within the country and the region.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in demography, social science, public health, or related field with training relevant to reproductive health, family planning, HIV and AIDS, poverty, gender, and youth.
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant postdoctoral professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, analyze, publish, and disseminate operations research results.
  • In-depth, substantive knowledge of HIV and AIDS; reproductive health; and poverty, gender, and youth issues.
  • Understanding of bureaucratic systems in Africa and a demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills including the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audience.
  • Willingness to travel within Kenya/Uganda and elsewhere
