Diakonie Emergency Aid (DEA) is the worldwide humanitarian assistance agency of the Protestant Church of Germany.
The Regional Office in Nairobi is in charge of humanitarian projects in the Horn of Africa and Eastern /Western Africa.
DEA seeks to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the following position: Project Officer – Based at the Regional Office in Nairobi.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Regional Director the project officer will be responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluation of several projects which are implemented by partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow changes of context of various countries in the region.
  • To support staff of partner organizations to ensure timely submission of quality project proposal.
  • Monitor projects progress through field visits and checking of financial documentation.
  • Evaluate projects and documents.
  • Report monthly to the regional director on projects progress of the partners.
  • Write interim/final reports according to donor requirements.
  • Establishment and maintenance of a filing system for project related documentation.
  • To maintain communication with parnters in the field and desk officers in the headquarters.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • University degree in business administration/management, accounting, development studies and/or relevant technical qualification (agriculture/foodsecurity, water and sanitation etc).
  • Excellent communication skills, with good spoken and written english is a requirement while good knowledge of french/arabic and portugues is an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer software:MS Word, Excel & Email applications required.
  • Exposure to diverse country contexts preferred.
  • Willingness to travel on international asssignments within the region covered by the regional office.
  • Several years working experience in PME with INGOs.
