Summary:

Food for the Hungry International, a Christian relief and development agency, is looking for a Program Manager to head its Child Development and Education sector. This is senior level position responsible for leadership in the implementation of Education and Child development programming activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following:



Key result # 1 - Lead and provide strategic direction and management for CDP.
  • Provide leadership in the implementation of Education and child development program operations geared towards increasing education quality and access.
  • Design and formulate, along with the Program Director, the general framework and strategy of the Education and Child Development Program.
  • Conduct needs assessment for program expansion, review community requests for support and design a system of monitoring and strategic assessment of the country program.
  • Spearhead local fundraising for the Education and Child Development Program
Key result # 2 – Oversee external communication and relationship with donors and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure effective communication and feedback to sponsors and donors including required child sponsor communication (World Link) and donor reports.
  • Liaise with donors, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) and other stakeholders in education including local authorities.
Key result # 3 – Oversee Staff and Financial Management
  • Maintain efficient planning, assessment and formulation of the education and child development program.
  • Oversee budgeting and expenditure monitoring/tracking of the CDP
  • Manage CDP staff including performance appraisals, objective setting and mentoring while maintaining high morale and team work
Qualifications
  • A strong Christian committed to serving the poor in full agreement with FH’s foundation and beliefs as expressed in our Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Must be a holder of a degree in Social work(Social sciences), development, Education, project management or related qualifications from a reputable training institution (A masters degree in relevant field will be an added advantage).
  • Practical experience in project cycle management
  • Should have 5 years experience in a similar or comparable position.(NGO experience will be an added advantage).
  • Should have good knowledge of local community development issues - particularly poverty
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Highly organized and able to multitask.

Summary:

Food for the Hungry International, a Christian relief and development agency, is looking for a Program Officer. This is a key position responsible for offering an all round sectoral support in areas of standardizing reporting in each sector, disseminating donor policies, communication and proposal development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following:

Key result # 1 -
 Reports and Administration
  • Streamline and standardize filling and reporting in each sector, this will include rolling out manager’s score cards.
  • Assist in resource mobilization and disseminating donor policies and regulations to managers and ensure better understanding and application
Key result # 2 - Program Management Support
  • Developing and disseminating reporting frameworks and guidelines for use by program staff and liaise with M&E to ensure timely monitoring and evaluation.
  • Assist PD and program managers to create and maintain updated sector strategies that reflect FH vision, mission and Kenya national strategy
  • Make field visits to follow up on programs progress and make recommendations on integration and strategic aspects through the program director
Key result #3 - Resource Development & External Representation
  • Gathering inputs and contributions from managers and supporting the program director in proposals development, grant amendments and reports for introduction to the donors.
  • Responsible to attend and represent FH Kenya when CD or PDs are not able to attend donor and sector coordination meetings (at the Nairobi level). These include OCHA, WESCOORD, Nutrition, ARC, etc.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A university degree and technical orientation in agriculture, livestock, child development, health and nutrition, HIV/AIDs and natural resource management.
  • At least 3 years experience working at program management and coordination level
  • Knowledge of relief and development strategies
  • Demonstrate experience in report writing, donor relations
  • Successful experience in proposal preparation and grant management
  • Practical experience in project cycle management
  • Excellent communication skills & Proficient in MS office suite
  • Ability to travel in rural and remote areas and work out of office up to 30% of the time.
  • A strong Christian committed to serving the poor.
