FARM-Africa is an international NGO committed to improving the lives of marginal farmers & herders through innovative natural resource management approaches. We are currently seeking to recruit 2 staff members for our Nairobi Regional Office.

Country Programmes Manager (Ref: RO/COP)

Purpose: Responsible for the overall management of FARM-Africa’s traditional & directly implemented field projects in East Africa & for the development of new initiatives in smallholder agriculture, community forestry & pastoralism

Key responsibilities:
  • Project & programme management
  • Long term planning
  • Staff capacity building
Essential competencies

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant subject
  • 3 years NGO programme management experience
  • Knowledge of the NGO sector, donor environment & government policy in East Africa
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following subjects: smallholder agriculture, community forestry, pastoralism
  • Experience of managing donor contracts
  • Fund raising & proposal writing
  • Financial management
  • Leadership
  • Team building
  • Planning, monitoring & evaluation
Desirable competencies
  • Masters degree in a relevant subject
  • Financial & strategic management systems/approaches
  • Experience of making high profile presentations
  • Negotiating & managing government relationships
  • Staff development
  • Policy influencing
Finance Assistant (Ref: RO/FIN)
Purpose: To ensure high standards of financial management in the FARM-Africa Regional Office
Key responsibilities:
  • To ensure compliance with the basic standards contained in the FARM-Africa finance procedures manual
  • To assist with general financial management in the Regional Office
  • To ensure safe custody of Regional Office assets
Essential competencies
  • CPA (II) qualification
  • Project accounting
  • Computer literacy (Quickbooks/Sun)
  • Monitoring
  • Integrity
  • Initiative
Desirable competencies
  • Diploma in a relevant subject
  • Financial reporting to donors
  • Financial training techniques
  • Planning
