Business Development – Project Manager: International Committee for the Development of People (CISP) Jobs in Kenya

The International Committee for the Development of People (CISP) is an Italian Non – Governmental Organization implementing the project “Fighting against poverty through income generation, enterprise development and microfinance for poor households”.

The project aims at alleviating the economic impact of poor households in Malindi and Nairobi, strengthening their capacities to start up and develop economic activities at individual and group level. CISP is, therefore, looking for 1 suitably qualified and experienced person to work in Nairobi as 
Business Development – Project Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Country Representative, the

successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Prepare financial and activity plan
  • Coordinate project activities in Nairobi
  • Prepare financial and narrative reports
  • Network with corporate business and government entities for business linkage opportunities
  • Be updated on issues relevant to the SME sector, through attending information sessions and carrying out researches
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of the business development experts and the social worker through on the job training and activity monitoring
  • Initiate collaborations with SME service providers (including microfinance institutions)
  • Organize and facilitate business development and technical trainings
  • Facilitate the establishment and project development of sector tables
  • Ensure that client and business database is up to date, and that all registered information has been recorded accurately.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • University degree in Economics, Management or related field
  • Very Strong project management, Monitoring & Evaluation skills
  • At least 5 years professional experience in SME development sector
  • Previous experience of working with NGOs would be an advantage
  • In-depth understanding of the SME sector, particularly in Nairobi
  • Good understanding of business plan writing and tendering mechanisms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in English and Kiswahili
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to conduct training and disseminate knowledge and information targeted at a variety of stakeholders
  • Conversant with computer packages especially Word and Excel
