The company is one of the largest Lilly growers in the world and as our business is undergoing continual growth and change, an exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Production Manager to work as part of our Lilies production team in our Mt Kenya Region operations situated at the outskirts of Nanyuki Town.

The Job
Reporting to the Lilies Production Manager, the key responsibilities for the Assistant Manager include:
  • profitable production of lilies, achieving the highest targets possible with respect to volume, quality and consistency of supply while operating within the industry standards including general policies and procedures;
  • plant establishment, crop husbandry and post harvest handling upto delivery of exportable product to the packhouse;
  • ensuring correct pest and disease identification by scouts, evaluation of scout reports for planning and implementing crop protection control strategies;
  • advising on specific crop harvesting procedures, cultural techniques with the aim of maximising production while conforming to product specifications and market requirements;
  • ensuring all planting programmes are followed and completed within set timelines;
  • monitoring of all farm costs and overheads to ensure compliance with budgetary provisions;
  • ensuring a skilled, efficient, engaged and highly effective production team;
  • PH/ EC management.
The person

The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum specifications:
  • Degree in horticulture/agriculture or related studies;
  • At least 2 years experience with experience in crop/flowers husbandry;
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
  • Track record of success in flower production and people management;
  • Experience with lilies will be an added advantage.
