Research and Science Director - The International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH) Kenya Jobs

The International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH) is an international NGO, based in Mombasa and affiliated with ICRH Ghent University, Belgium.

Its focus is on clinical, epidemiology and behavioral research and interventions in the area of reproductive health, with special emphasis on HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

ICRH works closely with national and international partners in research and research-based interventions and best practices, and is currently implementing research projects for the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) and the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP).

The organization has over 70 highly qualified and motivated staff and over the


last years published 27 articles in peer-reviewed medical and social science journals.

ICRHK has a vacancy for a highly motivated and enthusiastic

Research and Science Director

to be stationed in Mombasa, and reporting to the Country Director.

Job description:

  • Prepare, implement and document clinical and epidemiological projects in line with contractual agreements, protocols, ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other relevant guidelines and legislation.
  • Search for calls, proposals and participate in team proposal writing Initiate new proposals, protocols and participate in team proposal writing
  • Train and supervise local programmatic staff (project managers, doctors, officers, nurses, counselors and laboratory staff)
  • Work closely with local and international co-investigators
  • Work collaboratively with local and international co-investigators
  • Produce scientific output such as abstracts, reports and scientific publications using data generated by projects
  • Represent ICRH K in national and international conferences and meetings
  • General Management tasks as appropriate
Job requirements:
  • Medical University degree; a completed - or initiated - PhD or/and postgraduate Public Health and Reproductive Health education is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in project management
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of epidemiological research methods and international guidelines for research related to human subjects (such as ICH-GCP)
  • Familiar with research-related software and statistical analysis
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English
  • Professional interest in HIV related research in low and middle income countries
  • Good management skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Team player
