Mathira Water and Sanitation Company is a Water Service Provider working as an agent of Tana Water Services Board to provide water and sanitation services in Mathira East and Mathira West Districts.

Accountant

The purpose of this position is to ensure that all financial resources of the Company are acquired, disbursed, prudently invested and fully accounted for in an efficient manner.

Key Duties

  • Control and management of routine accounting matters like subsidiary ledgers, final accounts, stock control, credit control, account receivables, systems and costing etc
  • Monitor revenue and expenditure and maintain the accounts
  • Provide primary data for use by the management and ensure reconciliation of accounts
  • Coordinate preparation of final accounts
  • Take control of the company’s accounting systems and ensure payments are properly authorized before they are made
  • Supervise accounts staff

Qualifications

  • B Com / BBA with CPA (II) or CPA (K) / ACCA
  • 5 years experience in a busy accounting environment
  • Must have high level of integrity, confidentiality, excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Below 40 years of age

Internal Auditor

Reporting functionally to the Board Audit Committee and administratively to the General Manager, the Internal Auditor will be responsible for assisting management and the Board in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by furnishing them with reports containing analyses, recommendations, counsel and information concerning the activities/ operations reviewed including risk management systems and governance.

Key Duties

  • Designing, reviewing, and developing audit techniques and procedures for assessing comprehensive financial and systems audit reporting
  • Review and appraise the soundness and efficiency of all systems of controls including financial, operational and internal control systems and procedures.
  • Prepare the annual audit programme and ensure that it is effectively carried out.
  • Analyse outcomes of audit activities, provide timely reports and follow through to ensure that recommendations are considered and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Carry out special audits and investigations as may be required from time to time and submit report of findings to the Board.

Qualifications

  • B Com / BBA with CPA (II) or CPA (K) / ACCA
  • Professional membership /qualification in auditing will be an added advantage
  • Five (5) years relevant working experience in a similar position
  • Must have high level of integrity, confidentiality, excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Below 40 years of age

Procurement Officer

The Procurement Officer will be responsible for the establishment and implementation of a procurement system in line with the public procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and will report to the General Manager as well as provide guidance to the management on matters relating to various procurement requirements.

Key Duties

  • Ensure that the provisions of public procurement and disposal act 2005 and Regulations 2006 are followed
  • Facilitate sourcing of various supplies as instructed
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt and accurate deliveries
  • Prepare periodic procurement plan and reports
  • Membership to a professional body an added advantage
  • Register and maintain proper files of requisition, quotations and purchase orders and other relevant documents
  • Ensure all documents relating to procurement are handed over to the finance section for timely payment to suppliers

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management or equivalent from a recognized Institution
  • Registration with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management will be an added advantage
  • Have 5 years working experience in procurement preferably in a public institution
  • Conversant with Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005
  • Proven knowledge of MS office especially word and excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Below 40 years of age

Laboratory Technologist

The laboratory technologist will carry out chemical analysis, media preparation; maintenance of laboratory records; storage, collection and preparation of samples and specimens; diagnostics work; and any other duties assigned by the Technical Manager.

Key Duties

  • Analyze water and sewerage samples on a regular basis to ensure treated water meets the set quality standards and specifications
  • Maintain test records and advising the production team on the quality levels and requesting them to take corrective action as appropriate
  • Collect samples and specimen on regular basis and preparing media as required
  • Ensure smooth operations in the water treatment works
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and tools and reporting malfunctions of the same
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, Water Supplies Operations
  • Knowledge in water and effluent quality testing
  • Five (5) years experience working in similar position in a water/sewerage treatment facility
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Below 40 years of age
