Purpose of the Role

Perform a range of administrative and editorial tasks necessary to get the publication published
Responsibilities
  • Assist senior editorial staff in the administration of the commissioning, planning and production of the magazine.
  • Act as the liaison for the many people involved in the publication, from the receipt of texts from authors through to the handover to production staff. :
  • Liaise with other in-house teams, writers, photographers, printers, designers and production staff to negotiate and monitor timescales for


    stages in the publishing process;
  • Manage the administration of work commissioned to freelance writers, picture researchers, photographers, stylists and illustrators;
  • Organise and research projects to tight deadlines;
  • Summarizing written material;
  • Correcting manuscripts;
  • Filing, photocopying, and other routine administrative tasks.
  • Using your own specialist knowledge to contribute ideas;
  • Sourcing freelancers or other authors to produce new materials;
Skills and Qualities
  • Education: communications/media studies/journalism/printing.
  • Writing or editing experience
  • Enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation and flexibility;
  • IT, administrative and secretarial skills (including word processing, internet research and email);
  • A high standard of written and spoken English;
  • Attention to detail, together with the ability to proofread;
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure;
  • The ability to manage time effectively, often using your own initiative, and keeping to tight deadlines.
  • Own Computer and internet connection

Freelance Magazine Writer
Main purpose of the role

Producing topical, thoroughly researched and well- constructed stories and features for print
Qualifications, skills & experience
  • A degree in journalism or similar qualification;
  • Ability to write reviews and features in a descriptive but concise style.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Power Point and Excel)
  • Willingness to travel as required, at times on short notice
  • Ability to generate story ideas on his/her own
  • A high standard of written and spoken English;
  • Should possess good time management skills, self-motivation, versatility and problem-solving skills
