Objectives

Duties and responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Division Manager, the incumbent will:

  • Analyze the restaurant facilities usage, services consumption and equipment performance information and data and propose actions to improve services.
  • Assess the local restaurant marker and the trends in similar environments and draft proposals for the bank’s restaurant facilities usage policy;
  • Draft technical specifications and terms of reference for the acquisition of restaurant and kitchen equipment; and hotel and restaurant services and advise supervisor of the best sources of supply;
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team in preparing the regular equipment maintenance program and monitoring of its implementation;
  • Participate as a member of the technical evaluation committee;
  • Participate in the yearly negotiation with hotels and catering service companies;
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities and operations; coordinate with Protocol Division to ensure catering arrangements are as required and services offered are appropriate, develop weekly menu for distribution centres with Restaurant contractor and check daily presentations; ensure that catering services at meetings are provided in accordance with agreed contract and standards;
  • Monitor the performance of all equipment in the kitchen and restaurant and report any malfunction to the maintenance team;
  • Advise the staff in the planning of special events; make recommendations with regard to hotel, restaurant and menu selections, food and beverage quantity, appropriate staffing and room set up, etc.; supervise events directly to ensure that they are executed as requested and that client needs are met;
  • Supervise contract personnel to ensure that established standards of service production and sanitation are maintained, making recommendations as to adjustment and/or modification of same;
  • Supervise contracts related to catering and Hygiene Control services; regularly evaluate through unannounced site inspections and provide periodic report on the performance,
  • Carry out regular market survey on food prices and propose price update for staff in conformity with market prices;
  • Ensure that the caterer provides services in line with agreed contract terms;
  • Receive all requests concerning Bank restaurant services from respective organizational units of the Bank, program their events and supervise the provision of the required services;
  • Verify and control all estimates for the Bank’s meal subsidies and all invoices from caterers and other service contractors;
  • Maintain administrative programs and systems of the Restaurant Team; including accounts payable and receivable the liquor/wine inventory; prepare reports of activity levels and sales volumes for various food service activities; prepare and issue invoices for services rendered;
  • Carry out administrative assignments such as: set work program priorities and financial goals; maintain a restaurant billing computer system; monitor all contract related to the Bank restaurant activities and write minutes of meetings;
  • Attend meetings and committees related to restaurant services and equipment supplier selection, evaluation and execution;
  • Prepare regular reports on the Bank restaurant activities;
  • Work within a team concept to develop and implement ways to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of the products and/or services rendered.
  • Supervise the contract and manage the service for provision of water fountains for the Bank’s offices;

Selection Criteria

Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in hotel and/or restaurant management;
  • Competence in the use of standard software applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to communicate and write effectively in English or French, with good working knowledge of the other language. Excellent;
  • Excellent customer service records
