District Training Officer Job Vacancies - IntraHealth International

IntraHealth International, Inc. seeks to recruit District Training Officers for the USAID-funded APHIA II North Eastern Province (NEP) project in Kenya. The positions will be based in Garissa and Wajir.

The incumbent will provide logistical and programmatic support for implementation of training and capacity building technical assistance activities in the respective district.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and maintain training data to include performance and training needs of service providers with the district training committees and trainee follow-up.
  • Follow up on training and related capacity building technical assistance gaps identified during facilitative supervision by the District Health Management Teams (DHMTs)/DMSTs/ District Training Committees (DTCs) to ensure inclusion of the same in sub-sequent training and technical assistance plans.
  • Liaise with other health care training and support programs to ensure close coordination of efforts.
  • Oversee all financial and administrative logistics, in coordination with project finance staff, related to meetings, training events, and other activities.
  • Participate in training activities in collaboration with the training manager and the training committee.
  • In consultation with Training Manager and Office Manager identify needed training materials; maintain stock of training materials and supplies at all times and maintain a small district level training library.
  • Maintain strong and productive collaborative relationships with key counterparts at clinical training sites, project counterparts, and medical specialists.
  • Identify any implementation issues and work with project staff and partners to solve these issues.
  • Work closely with the Training Manager to ensure successful completion of training activities.
  • Collaborate with Reproductive Health/Maternal Child Health (RH/MCH) Coordinator and the Training Manager to report Cost Share.

Qualification and Experience

  • Diploma in clinical services, public health, or related field. Possession of a relevant advanced degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years experience in training administration, particularly in HIV and AIDS and/or public health, and other administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with training approaches and knowledge of the health care delivery system preferred
  • Experience working with international organizations and donors in Kenya will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrated good presentation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Swahili
  • Ability and willingness to work and live in North Eastern Province
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% of the time.
  • Proficiency in Computer packages
