The Brand Kenya Board (BKB) is a state corporation established through Legal Notice number 38 of 2008 under the State Corporations Act (Cap. 446). The rationale behind the establishment of the Board was the Government's commitment to put in place an integrated coordinating mechanism for building and enhancing the Country's image, national identity and rallying its citizens behind it.

The Board's Mandate is to manage and enhance the country's image by ensuring that a Kenya Brand is created, harnessed and sustained as a platform for communicating the Country's competitive advantage both internally and externally.

The Board seeks to strengthen its team by hiring valued talent to fill the following positions:

1. Manager International Branding
(1 Position)

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Manager will develop, execute and monitor branding strategies of the Board to ensure that an integrated approach to national/ international country branding is achieved and maintained.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Identify and prioritize the Board's international marketing and branding needs;
  • Develop short and long term marketing plans and identify the medium for reaching market segments;
  • Develop and implement a corporate brand strategy for positioning the Kenya Brand in the market;
  • Production of advertisements and other promotional programmes to improve brand identity and visibility in the designated markets;
  • Ensure continual improvement of the quality and packaging of the Brand as well as launch new branding initiatives for the Board;
  • Monitor competing brands and advise the Board for necessary action;
  • Support and promote the interface between the various departments in order to enhance internal efficiency and improve the overall image of Brand Kenya Board as a market-driven organization;
  • Generating and updating content for Brand Kenya Board website
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), Business Management or any other marketing related degree from a recognized university.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience; three (3) of which should be in brand management in a service industry.
  • An MBA specializing in marketing/branding management or equivalent from a recognized university is an added advantage

Key competencies:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to privileged information and confidential matters.
  • Be of high integrity, strong analytical and creative skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate strong leadership abilities,
  • Demonstrate ability to work with advertising agencies on brand creation and management.
  • Demonstrate a proven track-record of personal initiative, enthusiasm and ability to multi-task.

2. Marketing Officer
(2 Positions)

Reporting to the National/International Branding Manager, the officer will assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies to ensure that an integrated approach to national/international country branding is maintained.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Assist the Branding Manager to develop and implement marketing and branding strategies in line with the Board's mandate
  • Liaise with external agencies to ensure project requests are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of both medium and long term marketing activities for achievement of performance objectives.
  • Work closely with me Research team in the identification and analysis of market trends
  • Manage production of marketing materials, including merchandise and liaising with external marketing suppliers;
  • Effective distribution and dissemination of marketing materials to meet awareness objectives;
  • Assist in organization and participation in events and exhibitions
  • Monitor and evaluate marketing campaigns in line with set objectives.
  • Prepare progress end status reports of activities.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field from a recognized university.
  • A Diploma in Marketing or equivalent qualification and membership to a professional body will be an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years experience in marketing of services or working with a communications/Creative agency.

  • A working knowledge of computer operations and systems.

3. Marketing Research Assistant
(2 Positions)

Reporting to the National/International Branding Manager, the officer will be required to undertake and support both desk and field research activities of the Board, including but not limited to development of research papers, oversee data collection, and supervise research activities.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Design and implement appropriate research projects.
  • Collection and analysis of data on perception and attitudes of stakeholders towards the country brand and related branding initiatives.
  • Presentation of data including - reports, graphical illustrations and translating complex findings into written text;
  • Measurement and assessment of stakeholder satisfaction with branding initiatives;
  • Forecasting and tracking perception and attitudes
  • Measuring effectiveness of marketing, advertising, and communications programmes and strategies;
  • Conducting research on stakeholder opinions and marketing strategies,
  • Collaborating with marketing professionals, statisticians, pollsters, and other professionals;
  • Maintaining database on country status on all key aspects;
  • Tracking development aspects and changes both at national and international arena that may impact on our country's image;
  • Conducting survey on country image;
  • Evaluation of data collection methods and procedures for suitability.
  • Develop and implement procedures for identifying communication needs;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree in Social Sciences with research emphasis
  • A professional qualification in Marketing or a related field;
  • At least two (2) years' working experience in qualitative and quantitative research work, with evidence of previous success;

Key competencies:

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and group facilitation skills.
  • Experience in the usage of office software, qualitative and statistical software packages, and other research tools

4. Programme Officer

Reporting to the Manager Partnerships and Resource Mobilization, the officer will be responsible for the operational development of stakeholder engagement programmes geared to the achievement of Brand Kenya Board's mandate.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Coordination and organization of stakeholder forums through drafting communication to the participants; logistical arrangements for meetings;
  • Serving as a focus point for participants on administrative issues and rapporteuring during stakeholder forums;
  • Providing the Communications and ICT units with updates on stakeholder engagements for dissemination
  • Providing technical support for development of project documents, monitoring, evaluation, and liaison with donors tor resource mobilization.
  • Participate in development of proposals and concept papers to prospective donors or partners for funding
  • Support for Resource mobilization activities of the Board.
  • Development of programme implementation frameworks
  • Support the effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of programmes
  • Documentation of all stakeholder engagements of the board
  • Preparation of annual workplans and progress reports
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Development Studies or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in project management and organization of conferences and workshops.
  • Knowledge of /experience working with donor funded projects is an asset
  • Excellent computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications).

5. Internal Audit Officer

Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, the officer will carry out internal audit assignments that will enable the department deliver on set audit objectives.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Assist to install and maintain a system of internal controls and operating procedures
  • Assist to design audit programmes and ensure their implementation
  • Evaluating risk management reports presented by operational processes;
  • Conducting regular audits to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations, compliance with policies, procedures and best practice;
  • Receiving, analyzing and evaluating evidence in a logical manner to support assertions being tested to ensure proper conclusions are arrived at;
  • Conducting special reviews and investigations on need basis;
  • Conducting follow ups of Internal and External auditors' recommendations to ensure they are promptly implemented;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned;

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field from a recognized university.
  • Fully qualified accountant CPA (K), ACCA, CA or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum three (3) years auditing experience in a busy audit office.

  • Ability to maintain high standards of integrity and absolute discretion on confidential matters
  • Highly motivated, energetic, independent self-starter with strong communications skills,
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IT particularly computer assisted audit techniques.

6. Accountant

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will assist in accounts assignments that will enable the department deliver on set Accounts objectives.

Key Responsibilities and duties:

  • Conducting day to day financial transactions such as bank reconciliations, payments, petty cash recording and banking
  • To apply and control financial procedures ensuring that each transaction and payment has the necessary approval and justification;
  • To monitor actual performance against the budget and investigate any variances;
  • To prepare and maintain up to date accounting system, ensuring that all transactions are duly recorded
  • Assisting in preparing timely and accurate financial budgets and forecasts by consolidating individual, section and departmental budgets;
  • Analysing budgets and other financial variances and advising the Finance Manager accordingly;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned;
  • Assist in the maintenance of accurate efficient and effective periodic reports

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field from a recognized university.
  • Fully qualified accountant CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum three (3) years progressive accounting experience in a busy Accounts office.

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to maintain high standards of integrity and absolute discretion on confidential matters
  • Highly motivated, energetic, independent self-starter with strong communications skills,
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IT particularly computerized accounting packages and knowledge of accounting principles
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
